I got what is known as "cramming" from a ripoff company going this time by the name of Ameribizz.com, claiming they provide web services we did not signup for. It was on my AT&T bill. Others have found them on Verizon, and I'm sure they are all doing it. You can have the phone company (AT&T) MAKE YOUR ACCOUNT BLOCKED FOR 3RD PARTY BILLING. Here's what you need to know.

1. No, YOU ARE NOT LOSING YOUR MIND. YOU DID NOT SIGNUP FOR THIS! They try to tell you they had a phone call or sent a letter confirming you wanted their service. You didn't. They took public info of name, phone number, and e-mail address, and signed you up. These companies will keep popping up forever as long as the phone companies let it happen.

2. You call ILD Teleservices, (the 3rd party) and they will tell you they have stopped the billing, and they give you a phone number to a 4th party, which I'm sure the name changes daily. ILD claims innocence that they are just doing the billing service, which might be true, so you can be nice to them. By the way the billing won't stop for 3-4 months, which makes point 3 important.

3. REMOVE YOURSELF FROM AUTO-PAY or any auto-withdrawl from your checking account, credit card, etc, for paying your phone bill. Only AT&T or whoever your phone company is can get this money off your bill. ILD nor the ripoff company will do a d**n thing. They say they will, but they don't.

4. Call the ripoff organization and tell them to cancel the service that you didn't signup for. I like to ask the person on the line how long they have worked there and tell them they should not sleep at night. They try to convince you that you did sign up. Trust me, you didn't. If you want to be nasty to someone, these are the people to do it to.

5. Now call the phone company AT&T or whoever and tell them you have called ILD and gotten the charges stopped, and that you will not pay for that portion of the bill EVER. You must call ILD and the ripoff company first before AT&T will do anything. The CREDIT TO YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOT in process. It will linger on your bill for a few months. Don't pay that portion of the bill. **VERY IMPORTANT** INSIST ON BEING TRANSFERRED TO THE PERSON THAT CAN BLOCK 3RD PARTY BILLING. My 1st cust service person said that could not be done. I called back after being really pissed off and insisted to speak to someone who could dis-allow 3rd party charges. After 2 transfers I talked to a nice lady who said, "No problem." She apparently did a setting on my account to not allow 3rd party services. She said if I wanted something added for 3rd party services, that it would require a phone call from me to AT&T. Perfect!

AT&T makes money on this or they wouldn't allow it. They make money allowing the 3rd party to take place. They act innocent, but they are allowing it. Be nice to the big phone company cust service people. They did not do this to you and they are the ONLY people who will help you in this.

I do plan to write to my state congressman (any federal level is corrupt as hell with donations from the telcom companies) and see if we can stop this from happening in Missouri.

Call the "rip-off" place and be nice... the nicer you are, the more willing to credit they will be. And someone at your business DID authorize the service. You may have not, but someone did.
and there is a tape to prove it.

Second of all, As business owners you should be ashamed of yourselves acting the way you do on the phone. Anger or not you're representing your company when you call and I can tell you, the way you behave, makes a person want to slam your company on every website possible and turn away customers.

And lastly, if you get a telemarketer call, Hang up. That is all you have to do. You will not have services billed if you hang up.

Take some responsibility for your own stupidity or your employees own stupidity.
