Found a charge on my phone bill that said 14.95 for some company named Idprotectionplus.com. I nor my husband signed up for it. I contacted the phone company and they told me that it was a third party billing and they were reguired by fed. law to charge us for it because the phone company pays the bill and then charges us. But they said that they don't have a way to varify if the person signed up for it. So I will say they were real nice and also told me who to report them too. But I called the other company to find out who put this on our bill and they gave me the persons name and they gave me a fax number to try to get the persons address or any futher info. because i want to report this to the proper people. I just find it amazing that an id theft company would let someone sign up for this with out checking, love there excuse they siad the person may have had the number before me or they messed up when in the were putting the number in. Now that is the dumbest exuses ever for them being so money hungry what do they care if you get billed they still get paid. But they said it is going to take 30-90days to credit and not show up on our bill. But att is being nice and said they would credit the account till it is taken care of. But we have to make sure each bill that it's not on there and if it is then we have to keep calling and getting credited till it's gone. Now i think that is totally stupid and i figure those companies do this on purpose. I think the idprotection plus is a scam company and the fact that they can't even varify info. if people sign up online is total crap. every other company varifies information why can't or why won't they other then they can get paid from it. So people do what you have to protect yourself and fight till you get a real answer of why and who.

Hi Jane,

If you feel you have been crammed or charged without your consent, please let us know. Send an email to askild@ildmail.com or call us at (800) 953-7765.

ILD recently posted an article on what you can do to protect yourself against cramming. Here's a summary, but you can read more on our blog at www.ildteleservicesblog.com.

Like any bill, it's important to closely review your phone bill each and every month because whether it's your phone bill, credit card statement, electric or cable, sometimes charges end up on your bill that you should question. Your phone bill should be treated like any other purchase you make, so take a few minutes each month and closely review all of the charges, just like you do with your bank statement and credit card statements.

Best,
Sandra
