The secretary of state claims they sent me a notice that I had to verify my vehicle insurance on April 23rd. This was less than 1 month after I had submitted my renewal form for tags for my license plate where I had to write the insurance information to complete the form. Needless to say I had no idea that they even did something like this, the state of Michigan never did this in the 8 years I was driving there.

Now they say that they are going to suspend my vehicle registration on July 27th unless I send proof of insurance and $100 to them right away. The notice says that it can take up to 1 month to process, so I have to mail this today to have any chance of keeping my registration from being suspended. Of course if my registration is suspended I will be fined a minimum of $1000 if caught driving my vehicle. Child rapists get softer penalties.

There was no second notice either. They give 4 notices for emissions testing and 6 months before they suspend your license.
