Imation 100pk spindle failure to provide rebate as advertised rebate ripoff Oakdale Minnesota

Purchased an Imation 100pk spindle. At the time was a $20 rebate. Following the terms of the rebate, I sent the original store receipt along with the original UPC from the paper wrapper on the spindle.

About 6 weeks later I received a letter from Imation stating that the upc they received was not an original, and the rebate would not be processed unless I sent in the original promptly.

As I HAD sent in the original, I proceeded to call Imation's rebate number, and after a short time on hold spoke to a customer representitive. I explained the situation, and was told to call back in a week. I called back after a week and was told that there was nothing that could be done as I did not send in the original UPC... But wait, I HAD sent that in.

I spoke with the rep further, and mentioned the fact that I have a copy of the dated receipt and upc code along with the filled out rebate offer. I was basically told "We do not care, if you cannot send the original again we cannot process your rebate". Now how could I send then the original UPC for a second time? I even offered to hand deliver the copies I took before sending in the rebate, along with the spindle and cd's I puchased to show that I did indeed purchase the product - to which their response was "no, have a good day".

Because of this, I recommend strongly against purchasing any products from Imation with rebate offers, unless one does not care to receive the rebate. (In fact I recommend this to all my customers, co-workers, and relatives)
