Immedia is a staple in the Worcester, MA event production industry, as they have been around over 20+ years, providing AV, lighting, power, and searchlight services around Worcester and other parts of New England. However the company most people know of operates today as a shell of what it used to be. This is due to the owner's misguided attempt to distance himself from the daily operation of the business he founded and ran for those 20+ years. He went out and hired himself a sales person, unknown to anyone, to fill a new position as a sales person and general manager for the business. The issue:

This person - Mike Fiorelli - hasn't a clue on the event production industry, by his own admittance. He is an incompetent fool, who has been handed the keys to the playground, and his shortcomings as a general manager fuel what is a childlike approach to the job, where yelling, belittling, dropping F-bombs, and throwing employees "under the bus" is his approach to being a manager. Essentially, whatever he can do to feed his ego and make himself appear to be in a position of power, rather than a position of authority, he will do.

I recently engaged in a meeting with him, where rather than listen and be constructive, he took all comments personally, and tried to turn things around at me. He interrupted me and asked the stupid question "Dude, are you happy?" Dude...if s**t got done at work as it should have, I would have been. Apparently this a*****e doesn't understand you can like where you work, but be frustrated and unhappy with how things may go. It is black and white to him, but then again, he is a f*****g meathead with limited management skills. So for him, it was black and white: if I am unhappy, I should leave. Nevermind trying to find a solution to why things have gotten to this point.

So the argument persisted, with me eventually acknowledging that he was passing off his work for me to complete, to which I got the "how dare you question my job", "who the F do you think you are" and my favorite, "F you!" Big baby man threw a temper tantrum. Well that wasn't enough, he had to lie to the owner...I know, because the owner told me what was said, which was a lie...which got me fired.

So point being, you disagree with the general manager, you get fired. Funny thing is that there is one person left there who until I came along, was considering searching for another opportunity. Well the search has resumed, and if he leaves, that business essentially goes away.

When hired, I was told we all help in all areas. I had no issue. Mike...he can't even process a simple rental of speakers and an amp to a DJ. Guess you actually need to know what speakers and amps are to work in this business, but what do I know.

So if you are considering working for Immedia or Mike Fiorelli, consider this:

-You will not be offered nearly what you are worth. They seem to think $10 is top dollar per hour for professionals

-If you disagree with anyone, you will be cast out and removed.

-If you say anything to the GM that he doesn't like, he will change it and make it seem like you said something personally against the company.

-GM will throw you under the bus to make himself look better.

-Jerry, the owner, does not care about his business anymore.

-Jerry, the owner, believes Mike doesn't lie, and that everyone else does.

Take it for what it is worth. There are plenty of companies to work for in the New England area that will treat employees with dignity and as the professionals they are.

Oh...if you are looking to hire Immedia for an event, let it be known they have noone to run those events.
