We are a Christian family who wanted the best education for our children. We considered and enrolled our two daughters in Immersion Ministries which is a private school associated with the ministry of the same name. The teacher and pastor of this school are one in the same. I believe my daughters learned a lot this school year so I wont knock the teacher/pastor on the education of our children. However, when it comes to the warmth and inviting atmosphere and then trust that usually follows, my family was utterly disappointed. She enticed our children to voice their worries and concerns in the name of prayer and then shared that information with not only the other children in the class, but also to the adults/parents that go to the church associated with the school. Not only that. She badgered and verbally assaulted my teenage daughter about those very personal issues. And the mistrust wasn't exclusive to our family. The other families' very personal issues were shared and discussed with others, believe it or not!

My husband and I scheduled an appointment with this teacher/pastor. She didn't think she did anything wrong. She denied most of the allegations. Ok, this is a pastor. And she doesn't think that she did anything wrong when she misuses a child's trust like that. Doesn't a Christian private school supposed to be nurturing, loving, and trusting? We were all left hurt, disappointed and disgusted after this year of school.

We, as parents, have a choice as to where we send our children for a great education. When the school falls short, we do have a voice and we can use it to tell other parents so that they won't fall prey to the same treatment.

Parents, you've been warned!

Hopefully you won't think that type of Christian Education is the norm

As a fellow Christian, I wanted to apologize for the type of education you received. That is definitely not the type of education anyone should have to deal with especially in the Christian community.

If you are still considering a Christian education, specifically for your teenager, how about considering Denver Lutheran High School? This is where I went to high school (Class of '96). It is a school of less than 300 (freshman-senior) and has small class sizes (average of 15 per class) with a long list of extracurricular activities included.

They don't beat around they bush. It is a very caring, Christ-centered community and their main focus is preparation for the real world.

Their website is www.denverlhs.org.

Tuition is a bit high, but it is well worth it.

I want to wish you the best as you continue to search for a quality Christian education for your kids!
