All calls originate in the US but are now being targeted at people in the United Kingdom. The first phone call says you are taking part in a survey about holidays. If you meet the demographics you will be entered into a draw and you could win a trip to Florida.

Yesterday came the second phone call confirming that I'd been selected, and have 'won' a fantastic trip to Florida, with accommodation, car hire and even tickets to Disney all paid for. Then there are the bonus holidays flashing up on the salespersons screen, which can be mine once I've taken my prize vacation.

In order to reserve my places, and allow the tickets to be printed and dispatched by US Mail to my home address, my credit card details are required.

Then comes the ultimately painful part. The reservation fee of US$898 to secure my package, which the shipping department are only too glad to debit onto my credit card during the tape recorded conversation, which is speedily halted once they have my reluctant agreement to credit my card.

That left me with a bad feeling and I immediately felt that I wanted out, so I phoned the customer service number, and held on until my call was answered, by someone who could not help me, but would transfer. I held on again and ultimately got told the story that I could NOT get a full refund, and that was my fault because I had not asked the correct questions of the salesperson before authorising the payment. I accepted the offer to reduce the 'deposit' to half the amount to 'help out my circumstances' but stated that I was only doing so as I had been given no other choice.

Today having read all the reports on this website I will be calling again and demanding a full refund. Wish me luck!

Imperial Majesty Vacations Give Full Refund!

#2Author of original report

Tue, April 27, 2004

Following my earlier report, I did phone the company back and after holding for what seemed like an age, got someone who eventually gave me my refund. I basically didn't take no for an answer, despite being offered alternatives.

A postcard arrived as promised, confirming my credit card had been refunded, and when I checked with my card provider if this was true, found that all $898 had been refunded.

I had also contacted my local trading standards about these offers, and they are keeping my information on file should anyone else be unlucky enough to be selected to receive this offer.

My "tickets" and information pack did eventually arrive, made out for 2 travellers instead of the promised 4, and with no information about the other holidays which had been supposedly allocated to me during the phone call.

All made me very glad I was persistent on the phone, wouldn't back down, and got the full refund I was rightfully entitled to.
