Complaint Review: Industrial Hobbies CNC

Ok, I purchased a CNC milling machine from this so called company, IH CnC in New Britain Connecticut. I went to their facility where they manufacture their machines and it was a complete dump, basically a dingy old warehouse. Maybe that should have been a red flag right off the bat, but I myself am trying to start a small business and I know that when you're starting out you have to take what you can get as far as a facility. I did not want to hold their building's appearance against them. But I was impressed with the appearance of their product and they seemed to know what they were doing.

So I ordered a machine and they said it would be ready in about "8 weeks or less". I gave them half the money up front out of good faith. After about 10 weeks had gone by I began inquiring about when I could expect it to be ready. On the rare occasion that someone actually answered the phone I would hear some lame excuses as to why it wasn't ready yet and a vague estimate as to when it would be ready. This went on for another 15 weeks or so with no apologies from them. I left countless voice messages and none were returned. Again, I understand that stuff happens when you're a small business, and to miss a delivery date can happen. I tried to be understanding with them.

Finally I lost my patience with them on the phone and within 2 weeks they had my machine "ready" for me. But once I got it set up at my facility, I found many things that were not right. I won't get into too much technical detail but the quality of the machine was very poor...to the point that it's just about unusable for certain jobs that should be able to be done on it. Many of the features don't even work. They blame some of the problems on circuit board issues and said they would send me some new ones. After a week of waiting I called them and they claim that they had sent them out, although they didn't have my address. So I gave them my address and they said they would overnight them to me immediately. 4 days later I still do not have them.

I am writing this report now because I am at the end of the line with this company. I am not the only customer who has dealt with these kind of issues. If you go to www.cnczone.com and read their forums you will find many other people who are disgusted with IH CnC. Some forum threads are by people who have waited months for them to deliver a product they paid for in full and are now demanding their money back to no avail.

I'm afraid I have to accept the fact that I got ripped off by this joke of a company and it's probably too late to expect that I could ever get my money back...not that I would have even if I demanded my money back when they were 15 weeks late on delivering the product in the first place. And even if I got a lawyer involved it would just mean more cost and wasted time for me.

My only revenge now is to inform as many people as I can about this ripoff artist and hope that they lose enough business that they go bankrupt. Please, NO ONE DO BUSINESS WITH IH CNC IN NEW BRITAIN CONNECTICUT!!!
