Several people I know have recently bought motor vehicles from this dealership.  Initially, they might be happy with their purchase but then they become extremely upset to find out after several weeks that the loan on the car they traded in still has not been paid off  by the dealership.

So now they are in a real bind.  Most banks or credit unions call customers when they are even a few days late on their car note.  The customer starts to panic.  Is my credit going to be shot simply because I bought a car from this dealership?  Doesn't seem too fair, does it.  Ultimately, before the note becomes thirty days' past due, the dealership might pay thinking the customer's account won't show a late.  But this doesn't do the customer any good if he or she wants to go back to that original bank or credit union for a loan because the account will still show late to that entity.  And if the account goes thirty days late or more,  which has happened to several people I know of, then their FICO score goes down dramatically because it is considered a derogatory on their credit bureau.  You can write letters to the credit bureaus but it takes months to get your score corrected and it will show late on all three bureaus in the meantime.

Do business with this dealership if you wish, but I would advise thinking long and hard about trading in a vehicle to them if you still owe a balance on your loan.
