Movers that broke things and added $2000 to the moving cost after they had it on the truck. My sister needed to move from Albany, NY to Austin, TX. I researched and found several movers in the area. One went and did a walk through that quoted a price of around $3500. I spoke to a few others before she had to make up her mind and Infinity Movers said they would give me a phone quote of $2200 for everything. I wrote it all down and set up the date for her.

When the movers got there they moved everything on the truck. After they had everything on the truck they gave my sister the bill for $5000! She had to be out of her apartment by the next day and did not know what to do so she signed the bill. The movers then had the temerity to give her a tip sheet telling her it was customary for tips to be given. As my sister had never used movers before and is a mere 5'2" she felt more than intimidated and gave them what she had in her wallet.

I called to complain about all of this and also about the fact we received our items five days late and with several things completely broken (including a bed frame and a shelving unit). They offered us a mere 10%. I felt 25% was more in order considering the fact they lied about the cost outright and I had the written walkthrough from the other company.

Eventually we went to the BBB who only said we should take the 10% and consider ourselves lucky. We went to the credit card company who went and took all the money away (which we did not know, would not have asked for and did not agree with) and then received a completely false document from the moving company with so many lies we could not even begin to believe it. The credit card company basically put the whole $5000 back on the card and said we were screwed.

Now we're out the whole thing and we have no recourse. We basically want everybody to know that these movers will tell you one thing and then do another. They will break your items. And they will out and out lie, not only to your face, but also to anybody else they feel will help make their case. I have pictures and documents to prove all of these allegations, but we live to far away to take them to court or I would. These people deserve to get sued. Period.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
