A few weeks ago I ordered a credit report from Experian on a special they ran for $1. I didn't sign up for any other services.

Today I checked my bank account and found a charge of $14.95 from this credit report company. I called Wells Fargo and told them that the charge was not authorized and they immediately reversed it as well as giving me options about how to keep it from happening again. The rep also went back to the original $1 charge to get the phone number for me to call to get myself out of Free Credit Report's system.

When I called FCR the rep there told me I'd signed up for credit monitoring. I told her I didn't and to get me unsubscribed immediately, which she did. I received an email from them confirming this.

I knew that FCR was a ripoff prior to this and wouldn't have dealt with them at all if I'd known it was them (I didn't know that they're a subsidiary of Experian). I was careful to not click anything that would commit me to more than the $1 fee for one credit report because I'm familiar with the whole "sign up for monitoring" scam.

Kudos to Wells Fargo for quick action with no hassles.
