My computer has been invaded by a search engine that I did not install and can't seem to remove thus far. Info.com is the business that pops up most frequently on the searches that come up even though I haven't done a search. I'm trying to report some of the major companies using this method of marketing. This virus has also added a lovely toolbar for my use which has choices such as "adult sites", "online dating", "online Casinos", and of course, "online drugs". Just what I most wanted - NOT.

I don't understand why they would do this since I would think that most people would react as I have, which is certainly NOT TO BUY ANYTHING from the vendors that keep popping up. The search engine appears every time I use Explorer, and sometimes even reroutes me to various vendors or even shuts off Explorer out of the blue.

It's been a terrible annoyance and slows down whatever work I'm doing repeatedly. Anyone finding a cure for this virus, PLEASE let me know. There are a couple we've tried, but this seems to be a mutation and does not respond.

#2Consumer Suggestion

I had a terrible virus from a company called virusray,a trojan,im told.Anyways this company also installed a tool bar and did automatic virus scans constantly which froze up my computer many times a day, often causing it to crash and shut down. The result of these computer freezing ,not slowing scans was an unwanted trip to virus rays website, which insisted that I buy their protection.Through research i learned that their protection added more viruses and didnt remove their initial one.anyways I went to several sites and downloaded free virus scans but was almost always asked for credit info etc,in order for these companies to remove these revealed viruses, causing me to feel like I was being victimised over and over again,I researched and found that downloading active x software increases your chance of getting viruses and spyware. In the same week i downloaded active x from netscape and a lot of free info books from david Gales greedy giveaways, also associated with click bank.com.anyways one website that does FREEscans and virus REMOVAL is called Ewido.com.What I dont like about any of these virus protection sites is that one must download FROM them and one never really knows what they are downloading.I ended up buying a new computer because my $2000 dollar lap top was never the same after I downloaded a virus similar to the one you speak of. Sometimes the Yahoo tool bar download is helpful.Google how to remove viruses like virus ray trogan etc..., and you will learn a lot from the blogs.Anyone who has info on removal of viruses please dont be shy send suggestions. Thanks for the best web site ever ,Rip Off Report, from a real housewife ,small business owner.not affiliated with Ewido in aNY WAY.
