I am a disgruntled former employee of Ink Wizard. The company is worried only about making money and doesn't care about the quality of tattoos and piercings coming out of their shops.

The $25 "sterilization" fee is bullsh*t. That money goes to the company in its entirity while the artists have to buy all of their own cleaning supplies, autoclave pouches, etc.. And make or buy needles, clean tubes, make sure everything is autoclaved. The only supplies the shop provides are paper towels, water, and Pine Sol. Pine Sol isn't really recommended for any kind of cleaning involving biohazard contaminated surfaces.

Basically all that the $25 fee does is provide the company with a way to cheat the artist out of a percentage of his/her cut.

I know of a shop that is being run by a kid who never apprenticed and had only barely started tattooing when Gary put him into the shop. He's getting a manager's salary.

Although artists are all hired as independent contractors they are still expected to behave as employees.

If an artist does anything to get on Gary or other members of the ruling class and the company decides to fire them the company seizes all of the artists equipment. I had been taking my equipment home, MY EQUIPMENT, and was scolded by my manager, Bear, for this. This is the arguement which led to my quitting the company. They claim they don't want artists tattooing under the table at home but I was working sixty plus hours a week at the time. I really didn't have the time or energy to tattoo when I got home, and being a professional I don't tattoo off the kitchen table.

And as far as being professional goes, dildos and bongs really have no place in a tattoo shop.

Oh yeah, Gary, I'm still waiting for you to make good on that threat of coming to my house and kicking my ^ss.

I very much agree that ink wizards artist are the ones getting the short end of the stick. that 25 dollars goes straight to Gary halls pocket and nobody can or will do anything more than complain and keep making him rich. Gary obviously doesn't give a crap about his employees or he wouldn't rip them off. He sells tattoo supplies to his own employees at ridiculous prices. For example he buys a big bottle of green soap and pour it into an alcohol bottle about 1/4 full and the rest with water and sells it to his employees for 2.00 a bottle, buys razors for a dollar and  sells them for 2.00. I know the tattoo business is there to make money but if it wasn`t for the employees how would the money be made? He also charges each employee if they want to get tattooed by another artist there. Having a clean needle and tube should be any tattoo shops first priority. The customer should not have to pay extra just to get a clean needle and tube. So what happens if one does not want to pay the extra 25.00 do they get a dirty needle and tube or get turned away. You cant say the money goes for touch-ups because if thats the case the artist should be getting the 25.00 because Gary Hall doesn`t do touch-ups on another artists clients. I`m positive just by the looks of Gary`s work he has enough touch-ups of his own. Gary, why do you feel like you have the right to take an artists equipment if they don`t want to work for you after they find out how big of a rip-off you are? Don`t you have enough money? Greed will take you nowhere, but down a one way street!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(hell)!!!! No wonder they won`t even let you set up at the Atlanta tattoo convention, i bet alot of these people would like to know the answer to that, so lets hear it Gary.
