One day I logged into my pc and I wanted to check my email on yahoo.com and then all of a sudden a trojan virus by the name of pesttrap.com came up as a warning. Then I clicked on the window and a pop up appeared stating I was being watched and that my pc is infected with over 500 viruses and the only way to get these viruses off my pc was to click on the link to pesttrap website and pay the 29.95 for six months coverage, a one time payment. Next day I logged into my pc and then my computer frozed, and I also noticed blank screens and when I wanted to search the web it said unknown address. Now I have to cancel my credit card and get a new one since this company has a history of ripping off people like me and are getting away with it. I hope we can catch them and put them out of business ASAP!.

You don't have to click on anything to get infected.

I was just looking for info about headaches on the internet. I went to a website that discussed headaches and never clicked on anything else at the site. The next thing I know my wall paper was changed to a spyware/virus scan image and I got a pop-up that said I had to agree to the terms of Innovagest. I shut down my computer and am now searching for a way to remove this trash.

So just to let you know, you don't have to have a popup or to click on anything to get infected. I had no pop-ups and never clicked on anything but still got infected.

NEVER click on any pop up!

Anastacia,

You should always block all pop ups and then only allow those on a case by case basis from trusted sites. Windows does this for you.

When you clicked on that pop up, you executed a virus program/code. NEVER click on a pop up, and never click on or respond to anything that comes to you unsolicited. Spam email should be avoided to.

Web mail is a problem in itself, and should be avoided. Pop mail is much safer.

Did you actually give them your credit card#? NEVER do this!!
