I had to refile my rebate because they said I filed too early. They did send me an announcement that said I had filed too early, so I was extra careful with the limited time I had to refile and get it back to them. (like within a week.

I redid all the paperwork and priority mailed it in. I waited and checked online and finally saw it had been received and was "in process". When I never heard or received anything, I called. I was told my postmark was one day after the deadline and they had no recourse but to deny the rebate which of course they never notified me of.

Now that I've gone online and seen all the other instances of this happening with this company I'm truly upset. I feel very victimized by what appeared to be a legitimate company. They throw around the names of Cingular, etc., to appear legitimate.

If I were these major carriers, I would be upset as it gives them a bad name also.

I tried very hard to follow their ridiculous guidelines for the rebate. The forms are not pre dated (like ones I received with the last rebate company and are easy to comply with) and the number of phone service statements they require is almost impossible to comply with due to the lag time from the cellular carrier themselves with new service.

What makes me even more furious was the attitude of the rebate center... ne empathy and I pity those people that do business with this group... and inphonic is most likely smug about this grand scam scheme of theirs.

If there is anything I can do to shut these idiots down I would love to be a part of it. Let's make room for those that have integrity and do business the way it's supposed to be done.

Can you imagine the money they are making? I wonder if there is any federal agency that cares what these companies are doing?

In addition, the phone I purchased had issues right from the beginning and I had to buy a new battery and charging cable for it almost right away. My guess is that the equipment was either refurbished, used or castoffs from Motorola.

Again, if Motorola is doing business with these folks, shame on them!

I hope someone will tell me what I can do to get rid of scum like this.

Below is the only correspondence I have from Inphonic since it began in September to seek out a claim filed in June/July. More time has gone by since you said my claim was still "in processing" even though I supplied the info to you again, and haven't heard anything yet, not that I expected to. I will be happy to post another complaint against Inphonic again.
Thank you.

LETTER FROM INPHONIC

#7Author of original report

Tue, October 11, 2005

Here is the letter I received from Inphonic after I sent them the info they requested. Ironic they say it is still "in process"... my guess is that I will be told the same darn thing 3-4 weeks from now. Here is what they said:

Dear Ms. Tabor,

I thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your rebate request and appreciate that opportunity to assist you with this issue.

Upon review of your rebate request, it is my understanding that we have received the re-submission of your claim and it is currently being processed. Unfortunately, we are experiencing some delays in the processing of the claim that have been submitted, due to the overwhelming amount that have been received as we go through internal changes in our rebate center. Please allow another 3-4 weeks for your an update on the status of your claim. I do apologize for the incipience because of this delay and for any difficulties that you experienced during communication with our customer service department.

Sincerely,

You should consider filing a complaint with the Attorney General. either for your state or on the federal level. I filed a complaint with the AG of Florida and was told that they had MANY complaints against this company. The only way to rid ourselves of fraudulent companies like this is to prosecute them for their crimes... A class action lawsuit may also be in order...
