We purchased an $8,000 hydrophone cable in the summer of 2001 from S/N Technologies. After several hours of use, 1/3 of the channels went dead. We returned the cable to S/N for diagnosis and repair. Despite months of hounding, our cable was never worked on.

In June of 2002, S/N was bought by Input/Output (I/O). Our contact at S/N now works for I/O, and is still in possession of the cable. After more months of hounding, we were told that the cable had a manufacturing defect, which would be repaired within a week. Another month later, we are now being told by I/O that they are not responsible for the cable since it was purchased from S/N. Our cable is still in the possession of I/O.

Summary: S/N held our cable for over three months without repairing it. I/O bought S/N while it was in possession of our cable. I/O initially said they would repair our cable. Now, after they have had it for another three+ months, they are denying all responsibility.

I/O has stopped responding to our correspondence, and is probably hoping we will just go away. Sorry, no chance of that.
