Insider Mystery Shopping Secret Shopper Scam Woodbury New York
This company has been mailing a letter and a cashier's check drawn on MidWestOne Bank. The business purports to be a "SECRET SHOPPING" employment firm. The letter instructs you to deposit the check and then shop at several business that the company lists. Two of the businesses included are Money-Gram and Western Union.
The cashier's check included in this mailing is FRAUDULENT. This is a scam. The check is drawn off of MidWestOne Bank with a routing number of 073901233. The checks are in the amount of $4,989.00 and have a remitter of "JOSE SANCHEZ".
If you receive this letter and check, take it into your bank's fraud department. MidWestOne is aware of the checks, however, they would like to know the scope of the situation.

THIS IS A HUGE SCAM GOING ON FOR YEARS. PLEASE DO NOT CASH THESE CHECKS BUT DO TURN THEM IN TO YOUR BANKS FRAUD DIVISION. I AM IN CA AND WE GOT ONE TOO. THEY ARE MAKING THERE WAY AROUND THE US SO BEWARE OF ANYONE WHO ASKS YOU TO CASH THEIR CHECK IN RETURN FOR A MONEYGRAM!!!
