I'm a college student and I signed up for Insight cable internet because I needed it for classes. When I tried to activate my account I couldn't connect to their service. I've worked help desk and do freelance computer repair so I know what I'm doing but they claim the problem is in my hardware. I asked to speak to the manager and I was told that "none of them where here today." Is it just me or does anyone else think that having dozens of unsupervided people handling credit cards and personal information seem like a bad idea. I told them to have a manager contact me the second one became available. Two days later I called them again after not hearing from them. After spending 10 minutes on hold I eventually got a manager on the phone only to have her hang up on me after asking for the service cancelled and the charged days refunded! I had to use the school library internet for my research.

A few weeks later a "representative" from Insight came to my door to inform me that my filters was being changed and that the tv service would be down for a few days. I was told that I would get a "free upgrade" to the 40-channel plan for a month as compensation. I told the guy whatever and didn't sign anything. After recieving my next bill I was suprised by an extra $25 charge. I promptly called the customer service number and they told me that that "representative" was a door to door salesman selling upgrades to cable services. I told them that I A. I was told it was a free month of service and B. I never signed any service agreement. This was an open and shut case of outright fraud, I wonder how many people didn't catch on to their crime and unknowingly paid for services they never agreed to.

I've never meet a company that used so many underhanded, criminal tactics to squeeze a few extra bucks out of people for their already overpriced, undersupported services.
