We would like to officially file a complaint against Inspector Drain, Inc, dba RooterPlus! Environmental Division. Address is 5834 Bethelview Road, Cumming, GA 30040. Phone is 770-962-9962. They are a local septic tank company who is price gouging and ripping off people every day. We are the latest victims.

Our septic tank clogged 1-24-09 and needed a pump out, so we called for them 1-25-09 to pump it. They said it would cost $195.00 for 1000 gallons. No other fees.

When they arrived, they said they'd have to cut down our fence to get equipment in, so they cut it and brought in a track h*e. Next they dug up the septic tank, and then told us they couldn't pump it without doing an oxidizer treatment for $2000.00! They said we had NO CHOICE, and that the ONLY way they could pump it was for us to have this treatment.

Then they told us that there was grease could only be broken down with a special tool called a grinder. They did not mention that would be an additional $200.00.

Next there was a pipe they said needed to be replaced and that would cost another $800.00! We said no, we'd have our plumber do it. Yet they charged $250 for work they didn't do!

This company completely ripped us off. They use false advertising: they said a pump out was $195, but charged $219.25 for that line item on the bill. They said we didn't have a choice and needed a $2000 oxidizer treatment, and come to find out through several reputable septic companies after this experience, that treatment is NOT TRUE OR NECESSARY. It is simply another hoax to get money from the uneducated consumer.

They charged $200 to use a grinder when other companies use a shovel and do it for free; this is another gimmick. We were charged $250 for work that wasn't even done! And lastly, they left without fixing the hole in our fence, and they never even used the track h*e!

When our plumber came to fix the pipe, we showed him the bill; he said we got completely taken advantage of and ripped off. He said the oxidizer treatment WASN'T NECESSARY, that we DID have a choice! It was actually possible to pump the tank without doing that! We called several other septic tank companies; they all said the oxidizer treatment IS NOT NECESSARY and the grinder tool is a gimmick we shouldn't have been charged for. Banks Tanks is willing to back up our side and speak with someone if necessary. This company did fix the fence after we called them, but they have only offered to give us back $713.00, but this isn't good enough. That is just the money their two technicians added to the bill for no reason. The price we SHOULD HAVE PAID IF WE HADN'T BEEN RIPPED OFF WAS $195.00 to pump the tank. They lied and tricked us by telling us we couldn't have a pump out without paying for the $2000 oxidizer treatment. Our final bill was $2667.25. We want to be refunded back the difference of $2472.25. We will pay the fair, advertised price of $195.00.

This company must be stopped. Our hope is to prevent this from happening to another unsuspecting consumer, especially during this poor economy.

We did have an issue at first, but the General Manager handled it and addressed all my concerns and issues. NO longer feel this is a rip off company.

In response to the previous post: The customer called the following day and expressed her concern for the amount charged - nothing was said at the time the invoice was signed. We refunded 25% in good faith because all customers are important. We immediately sent a manager to the house to fix the fence. The same fence that the husband handed my tech some wire cutters to cut down because "we are getting rid of the fence anyway." When my manager arrived on site the homeowner did nothing but praise our company for our prompt service in resolving this matter. FYI - the customer's septic system is working properly just as we said it should.
