I signed up for a free trial to instantcast.com on 16 September 2005. It was to be a 14-day trial period free of charge. I provided my credit card info to the website for "verification".

Instantcast.com was supposed to send me an e-mail with log-in information to access their website. However, I never received this e-mail or any e-mail with a confirmation of sorts. These people are sneaky, too, because you can't contact them through their website. There's no phone number or e-mail address or physical address. And you have to log in to access practically everything, so how was I supposed to do this without any log-in info??

So, two weeks later, I see a charge on my credit card statement for $51.87. According to the form they make you fill out, if you continue with the service, they charge you $3.99 a week quarterly=$51.87. I, on the other hand, did not intend to continue with the service after the free trial, but since they never contacted me via e-mail as stated (and you can't contact them via the site anyways as a non-member), they charged my card anyways.

I usually know better than to sign up for these scams, but we all make mistakes. I'm currently in the process of attempting to obtain a refund.

I'll keep you posted!
