Integrity 1st began tearing off the roof on May 15, 2006, an overcast day. When the roof was down to bear wood, the rain came and the workers did not cover the roof with tarps, but got themselves undercover.

The manager came when I called and had the workers put on the tarps, which they had left in the truck. He went and bought another large tarp because what they had was inadequate. He helped me clean up and promised me the company would take care of everything.

The ceilings in seven rooms were ruined. The blown in insulation was soaked. He brought in ServePro, which did a good job of drying out and dehumidifying the place.

Then he wanted estimates so he could decide whether to report to his insurance or not.

To make a long story short, after two months of going back and forth with estimates and potential settlements, he said, he decided to turn it in to his insurance and that we would hear from them. When there was no action, I called him.

Now five days later, he says his insurance will not cover the damage because his contract has a clause that says they are not responsible for leaks (as if having no roof is a mere "leak").

The owner, Mr. Danny Patrick Grimes, practically laughed in my ear when he told me he was not going to pay anything near what he had orginally agreed. He offered to "split" the cost in such a way that I had to pay for all the damage and he got most of his money. When my wife got on the phone she got hysterical because of his callous attitude and the pain of losing her home for two months and now finding out we were being lied to all along. He hung up on her.

Even though they destroyed our home, we will have to pay them for their incompetence and gross negligence and pay for the repairs for the damage they caused.

They lied to us for two months, to lead us on, hoping we would give up and go away. When we didn't get it, they ridiculed us and basically told us "tough luck."

The $17,310.00 price for the roof will end up costing us a total of about $42,000.00 that we don't have. We will have to live in a badly damaged house with a not so great roof.

They also missed putting new sheathing on few a places which visibly sag under rainy weather. The fascia replacement was shoddy and unprofessional.

Beware.

It is true that while the roof was being installed, a thunder storm did develop with lightning. The crews tried to completely cover the roof, but were not able to do so. In Florida, thunderstorms can develop quickly as it did this day. The crew did seek shelter from the storm because of lightning. Florida is known as the "Lightning Capitial". Homes are important, but so is the safety of the crews.
The house was damaged by the rain. The insurance company paid for ALL damages.
Integrity 1st completed the roof and the homeowners refused to pay. They were turned into collections. The homeowners finally paid the bill and then posted the report.
When you consider the amount of roofs that this company does in a year, there is going to be something that happens that is unfortunate.
I think the important thing is the FACT that they had insurance and that the homeowner was paid for all damages.
