Integrity Field Services contracted us to perform $8000 worth of work on an REO property.  We completed the work in a timely fashion and invoiced them, giving them 30-day payment terms.  When we still hadn't received payment 45 days later, I began to inquire.

Each time I called or emailed, I was given excuses as to why they weren't paying.  I ultimately contacted them about twenty times, attempting to collect.  For months, they gave me the run-around, claiming that we'd be on the "next check-run," or that payment had to be approved by a supervisor, or that key personnel were out of the office and couldn't cut a check.  Their company president himself eventually became involved in this run-around.  After much prodding, they agreed to a payment schedule.  I received two $2000 payments, but then even that stopped.

Finally, after numerous excuses, broken promises, and missed payments, I contacted the bank that owned the property.  As I geared up for litigation, the bank stepped in and saved the day, by applying pressure to IFS. IFS paid us--five months after we had completed the work for them.  It should be noted that they had no complaint with our work.  They just wouldn't pay.  Over the last ten years, this is one of only two companies I've dealt with who have been so blatant about their unwillingness to pay for work performed.
