International Award Payment Center, AKA: IAPC Very Deceptive. Sent letter stating I won $15,000. Oh and just send a "Discounted" fee of $9.00 to IAPC. Is This legal?? Kansas City Missouri
I received a very convencing letter in the mail stating I had won $15,000.00 to be "paid by corporate check and delivered by first class mail; this sum shall be disbursed free and clear of all commissions, fees, or encumbrances."
The letter asked for cash, check, or money order (payable to IAPC) of $9 (Discounted Fee) and answer the Qualifying Question (Answered Required). Also my signature was required stating: I Have Read And Understand The Enclosed Official Rules. A Correct Answer To The Qualifying Question Will Advance Me To The Next Round!
There were no Official Rules enclosed to read.
Also, the following was printed in Bold:
Note also that to formalize your eligibility to play for the sum in question ($15,000.00), you are required to correctly answer the Qualifying Question on IAPC1080. Doing so will ensure your advancement to the subsequent round.
Final Instructions For (name):
1)Complete IAPC1080, and sign your name below.
2)Correctly answer the Qualifying Question.
3)Enclose a discounted fee of only $9.
4)Mail without delay.
The letter went on to state: "I strongly advise you to respond to this Official Memorandum immediately..."
I cannot believe that this type of scam is allowed to continue to operate given the number of complaints I saw listed on the internet. Something needs to be done to stop this kind of unscrupulous activity.
