I received an unsolicited phone call from International Directories Corp. asking if I would like our company name, address and contact info in their directory for free. I accepted their offer. Received a fax with the information and was asked to sign and fax back if the information was correct. There was nothing regarding a fee for the listing at all in the original fax. After I faxed it back, I received a statement stating our company owed them $249 for the listing.

I submitted a letter via U.S. Postal Service to them stating I never authorized, nor could authorize, payments for our company. I told them to stop faxing their faxes with payment due notices. Now they are indicating they will turn us over to a collection agency.
I did not authorize this charge and believe they added information to the original fax after I returned it with my signature indicating the information was correct. I looked up the company on the Internet and discovered they have been ordered to cease and desist contacting companies about this particular issue. However, they continue to harrass our company with numerous faxes and threats.

I find it interesting that not only is no fax number available with which to contact this company, no telephone number is available as well.

I read another report dated Dec. 6 that another company had, in fact, paid the original $199 to International Directories Corporation and discovered it was a scam after they investigated the company further.

Whatever you do, do not ever sign anything that is unsolicited through a fax or letter.

Thanks for allowing me to post this important information to warn others of this.
