Usually junk letters are filed in our recycling bin. But when I received a letter which informed me of a huge win in a lottery I didn't enter or even knew existed, I was intrigued.

A small amount of research has shown me that these scam attempts are pretty common and occassionally successful. Usually elderly people are targeted. Contact the claims agent who convinces you to pay their "processing costs" or fill out your bank details so they can bleed you dry.

Awaiting response from legitimate Spanish lottery and bbc watchdog. Will contact Spanish Embassy next. Hope to update soon!

Letter received in printed envelope (postal stamped Malage 24/8/07), 2 pages enc., black & white photocopies on thin paper, no details of intended recipient included.
