This place sells "high mileage foreign cars". I found a vehicle I was interested in on cars.com -- and called the company who had listed the car.

After many questions about the actual car -- I asked, "do you allow potential customers to take the car to their own mechanic to check it out?"

"Oh yes!" they replied. "Of course we do - as long as it's not too far away".

I drove to this company to test drive the car. I again asked about my own mechanic checking the car before I would even consider purchasing it.
And once again, they said "yes, of course".

But before I even test drove the car - they wanted a check for $500.00 and for me to sign a paper - which said "NO REFUNDS". Before I signed -- I asked about the "no refunds" -- and was told it was "merely a technicality in order to take the car off the lot". They also assured me the check would not be deposited - it was merely a "safeguard".

The test drive was fine. I told them I would pick it up from them the next morning & take it to my mechanic, and return it as soon as the mechanic was finished - which I did. The car was off of their lot for a total of 7 -8 hours.

The estimate I received from my mechanic, to get the car up to par - was several THOUSAND dollars! (he is trustworthy - and I have used him for years). I took the estimate to the company when I returned the car, was told they WOULD NOT negotiate on the price - and I politely said, "thank you and good-bye".

TO MY SURPRISE - THEY DID DEPOSIT THE CHECK - which cleared. When I called to ask why it was deposited - especially after they stated it wouldn't be deposited, the response was "well, you signed the paper, & it said no refunds".

So basically, they deceived me and STOLE MY MONEY! My attorney says "these types" of companies - are notorious for this kind of blatant thievery. He assures me that in court - judges are very familiar with these types of rip-off artists - and that I'll have my $500, plus.

Of course - I hope to have a good update to report for International Motor Productions (full refund of money). But that will be completely up to them!

DON'T BELIEVE THEM!

My Experience with International Motor Productions

#2Consumer Comment

Tue, May 04, 2010

I give International Motor Productions 5 stars. Any one that sells as many cars as they do must be doing something right. I will be looking them up next time I need another car.

Here is my story:

Last month my car went into the shop and it needed more repairs than the car was worth.

Like most people I started searching the used car websites to see what was available.  I wanted a good deal and a nice car so I printed 4 advertisements with the lowest price.

Next, I went to yahoo.com and looked up reviews on the dealers. To my surprise they all had multiple negative comments no positive comments. I decided to visit the 4 dealers that seemed to have good deals and see fore myself.

The first dealer was in a bad warehouse district and I was literally scared to get out of my car. The second dealer grossly misrepresented the condition of their cars and I left right away. The 3rd dealer had a nice car and a good price but the sales person used high pressure tactics and made be very uncomfortable so I left.

The last dealer I visited had a very nice showroom in Carrollton. I walked in ready to deal with pushy sales people or to find a rough car priced at the bottom of the market. I was greeted by a very cheerful sales person named John. Okay, I thought, nice people but how about the car. John proceeded to show me a very nice Acura TL. It really was a nice car but how does it run?

After asking me a few questions and giving John my drivers license I was off on a test drive. The car ran great and it was in excellent cosmetic condition. I liked this car and the price was great! So what is the catch here?

I asked John why they where selling this Acura for such a low price? He explained that they are a non-negotiating dealer that sells high volume by offering nice vehicles at wholesale prices. He explained that they have been in business for 17 years.

I went ahead and purchased the car. The whole process took 30 minutes including verification of the personal check that I used to buy the car.

I have purchased 6 cars in my life and I can say with out a doubt that this was the easiest car buying experience that I have ever had. No one pressured me, it was fast, and the car is awesome. I have been driving it for over a month and there is not a single this wrong with my new car.

I had to ask myself, why does a good dealer like this have negative comments on the internet? I had such a good experience! I realized that it must be because satisfied customers do not take the time too post positive comments on website like this. Sad to think that only disgruntled people post things. I am glad I am the kind of person that makes up her own mind.
