My business had been through a difficult period when I was called on by a representative of IPA who guaranteed they could increase my bottom line. They move very quickly. The next day a "business consultant" came by to look at my books and make recommendations. He immediately determined from, frankly, less than accurate inventory accounting that someone on my staff (of 6) was a thief. He could have two more consultants on site the following Monday for a mere $13,600 to straighten things out. Also, for another $10K or so, they could have a tax consultant save me gobs of money.
Monday arrives and Nurse Ratchet (the "project manager") and her sidekick (the "senior consultant") show up to tell me again that my staff is ripping me off and they're here to help. They crank out some canned spreadsheets and other useless junk, piss off all my employees (one 15 year employee quit), present me with large bills and leave me with a small notebook full of their canned output (upside down in the binder). I'm drained of cash and none of my real concerns has been addressed. Don't hire these sharks. If you're smart enough to know you have a problem, you're smart enough to find your own solutions. Save your money.
