Interstate National Dealer Services Will only cover $3,330 for repairs on an $3,395 engine Atlanta Georgia
I purchase my vehicle May of 2013 with an extended warranty of 100,000 additional miles and no deductible. Early February I had a noise in my front end. Immediately I made an appointment with the Chevy dealer 4 miles down the street from house on 2/17. I brought it in for a full diagnostic. As the sound was coming from the top end, they found my Head Case had sever damage and needed to be replaced. The warranty denied the claim because the damage was not caused from a non lubricated issue and was labeled in my terms and conditions of my contract. I've read my contract numerous times, no where did I read this. Over a week goes by and I finally get them to approve the claim, only I have to pay for the spark plugs, wires, bolts etc. as the warranty doesn't cover that, also not in my contract ($500). Fine it's better than the oringal $2,300.
The shop repaired my vehicle, but still didn't sound right. After further reviewing my engine found there was more damage on the bottom of my engine. They say cost effective it would be better to replace the engine. Now the warranty company is saying per my contract they are only ever responsible for paying $3,300 in repairs to my vehicle per the Limit of Liability. A new engine alone cost $3,395. I've read the contract, again, per the contract:
LIMIT OF LIABILITY
a) The Maximum limit of liability per loss shall be equal to the actual cash value of the Vehicle at the time of Failure.
b) The Aggregate limit of liability for each Service Contract shall not exceed the purchase price of the Vehicle.
I fully know my car is worth more than $3,300. I'm financing the vehicle at almost $9,000. Where is the number coming from? IDNS continuely tells me to read my contract which they have been unable to provide me with a copy of after asking three times. They keep saying we will email it to.
The estimate total repairs for my vehicle are $5,200 which the shop is now tell me I am responsible for paying everything the warranty wont cover. So now because the Warranty company had to purchase the Head Case Parts and send them to the shop to replace I'm -$600 of the $3,300 allowed leaving me approximately $2,600 to replace an engine. I feel that where my car is worth more than what they are paying and I'm sure after I'm done with the contract will have paid more than $3,300 they should be responsible for more in repairs. I could be wrong, but I think this warranty company is making any excuse they can find to not have to cover the repairs to my car.
Please do no purchase a warranty from this comany. After researching the have an A+ with the BBB, but 295 claims and they only get out of paying things because of small fine print of the Terms and Conditions or a ridicoulous excuse like preexisting conditions or the owner knew of the problem, but continued to drive the car without repairs. I have been a victim of their nonsense, but will fight until everyone tells me its over.
