I seen an ad in the local paper to travel and make money, hire on bonus, so I called and they said they could send me on a bus the next day to where ever the crew I was joining was. I took some time and thought about it, and a week later, a friend and I were on a bus to Georgia.

When we first arrived everything was really cool. A bunch of people the same age as me living in hotel rooms across the country. My first day of work I went with a trainer, and she did her "contest canvas" (the real sales speech) after it wasnt working she switched on to use other bogus sales pitch such as she was in college, you can donate ect. All Lies! but this is what my "teacher" had taught me. I didnt really think it was all that bad since i wasnt hurting anyone.

After a few weeks on the road i realized that it was very hard work, at least that is what i was trained to believe. You see these people talk for a living. They have a way with words to get you to do and believe anything they say. I worked 6 days a week if i was lucky to not have to work 7 for about 10-12 hours everyday. Sunday was our "day off." Which was usually jump day where we move to a diffrent city, or state. Being in a packed car sometimes all night long, stopping at the side of the road to get a couple hours of sleep. Not much of a relaxing day off.

After a couple monthes i got very good at my job, made a lot of friends, and enjoyed it. Then is when I caught on to what was really going on with the drug dealing and all other types of illegal activity. Almost everyone on crew used some kind of drug, from marijuana to crack. Including myself. I was only 18, i enjoyed the lifestlye. I did have fun, living in all these big cities that otherwise id never get to see.

Then my boss decided he was going to fine me for various things. 100$ here 100$ there. I started to practically stave with only getting 20$ a day to live on. on pay day i would maybe get 40-60 dollars after working a 72 hour week. I was doing slave work. I figured it was better than home, I still had my friends out there and continued to do slave work because like I said they have a way with words. I soon became one of the top sales agents, and they talked of making me general manager, really just to make me think I could profit out of all the BS

After another 3-4 monthes of slave work i told my boss i had it, I want to go home. He tryed to convince me for 2 hours to stay, that they needed me. That I was their leader, and I would be abandoning them when they needed me the most. I said no im going home. I had to keep saying no over and over. Finally I got to go home. But they didnt pay for it, like they say they will. My dad had to buy my bus ticket home. After working for them for 6 monthes id say I made maybe $2,000 dollars total. I went home with nothing after workin so hard for them, all those long hours. They gave me nothing.

When I did come home and read up about magazine crews, i actually felt fourtuante because I didnt get beat half to death and left on the side of the road like so many before me. The people who dont get their magazines arent the only victims with these companies. They hire young, naive kids to do thier dirty work while they rake in the cash and dont pay their employees anything. I realized what slave work was working with them and the crazy thing is they talked me right into it every day..
