1. Turbo Tax used to be a great, reliable, and fair way to do taxes. I have been using it for close to 15 years probably.

2. I recently bought the basic program for $19.95. A cheap way to do taxes. or so I still thought.

3. It seems the company is in partnership with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust to take as much as $47 more dollars out of your pocket every time you file, to wit:

a. They charge $17.95 to efile!! What? Where does this $17.95 go, and why, in the first place is there a charge? I doubt that Intuit suffers ANY loss my me efiling but they sure want to take $17.95!! This is called CLEAR PROFIT.

b. And, get this, if you don't have a debit or credit card then they (along with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust) will take another $29.95 to "conveniently" have the $17.95 deducted from your refund. ( a total of $47.90).

SCAM SCAM SCAM

4. I bought Turbo Tax this year but I won't any more. I do taxes for a lot of people (mostly family), most of whom need a faster refund and they end up paying Turbo Tax's and Santa Barbara's absolutely stupid and no-reason-for fees. I'm fortunate that I owe about $100 every year (planning) so I don't need to efile.

5. Go to IRS.gov for FREE tax filing. FREE. It's beats turbo tax and all the other crazies like H&R.
