After buying Intuits Quick Books I was called and told I was entitled to free web hosting for 1 year.  With starting a new business I accepted the offer.  The web site was only 3 pages which at the time was fine.  I put some fluff on it and forgot about it.

When the free subscription expired I was contacted about paying for a site.  I accepted their offer, which was for a month to month service.  I gave them my credit card information and hired a local IT person to build my web site.  Shortly after I hired him, my IT guy told me it was hard to use and that he had found another provider that he liked.  I told him to go with them and I would cancel my Intuit account before the next billing cycle.  On 2/21/2011 I called Intuit and notified them to cancel my service before the next billing cycle.  I was assured it would be done.

On Saturday 2/26/2011, I was suprised to receive an e-mail from intuit that I was billed $370.14 for a domain name I had with them (OK), credited $4.84 for the unused portion of my monthly use (suprised) and $359.99 for an annual subscription of the same web site I just asked to be canceled.  I called them to ask why and no one had an answer except that it was an error.

When I asked for a refund I was told it was Saturday and they do not do banking on the weekends (I guess they only take on the weekends).  I was told a refund request would be submitted.  I called Intuit back on Monday 2/28/2011 and was informed that no request had been submitted.  I was then told that my money would be refunded back to my account that night at midnight.  On Tuesday the money had not yet been refunded.  To add fuel to the fire when I checked my e-mail Tuesday morning I found an invoice from intuit for $12 for e-mail service (never requested).

I called Intuit and again was told that was a mistake (I'm building quite a history of mistakes with them).  I guess I caught it quick enough to avoid it reaching my bank account.  I also asked them about my refund again and was told it was in the system and that sometimes it takes awhile.  Wendsday still not money or answers, Thursday the same.

If I have any advice, avoid Intuit products like the plauge and more important never give them your credit card information.  What a nightmare.
