So i go into Inver Grove Ford interested in trading in my 06 milan for a Ford F150. The sales rep refuses to give me a price on the truck until we get inside and fill out all the registration forms on me and my current job. As im filling this all out he is asking about my car and what i owe on it. I procede to tell him that im a little upside down on it because i was previously ripped off on it by them two years ago.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt and the fact that its really convenient and i have a two thousand dollar off coupon i went back in to look at a truck. However before i went in i looked online and found a truck i was interested in and their online price so i would not be ripped off again. The online price was 19995.

So after filling out the paper work the rep goes into this office for about five minutes. He comes out with a smile a says we have good news. He said we can give this truck for 27800.00. He said your payments will be around 480.00 a month. He did not know that i had the print out with me and had matched the serial numbers. I let him go on with trying to sell me on this ridiculous price with a truck with 92k on it.

After he finished i pulled out the papers and showed them to him and he said it must be a mistake. He said this must be the wrong truck and i told him it cant be i matched the serial numbers. He then gets up and walks into the main office. After a few minutes the sales manager comes out to talk.

He tells me that this truck has had one owner and is in great shape and since im from around the area they will honor the price.  He then tells me that they will give me 9,000 for my car, which KBB is 10,400, and then i have to finance only 13,080. I did the math in my head quick and it still comes out to 22,080 plus the 2,000 ill be upside down on my car. So that puts a truck with 92k on it for 24,080.

When i asked about the coupon he told me they have already taken more then that off the original price so the coupon was no good. I stood up and was about to leave and he asked what i would like my payments to be. I told him and he disappeared back into the office agian. He comes back out with an offer of 99 more dollars a month then i had stated i wanted.

I then asked how much that put the truck at and he told me he didnt do the math but its close to where i want to be. He told me that im going from a car to a truck so i should expect to pay more.

So after all this the truck was still not even close to the 19,995 that was advertised so i just left.
regardless of how many owners it still almost has a hundred thousand miles.

Memo from the General Manager

Dear Consumer:

I would like to take the opportunity to describe to you the pricing strategy we have in place at Inver Grove Ford Lincoln.

Inver Grove Ford Lincoln believes that the majority of consumers researching vehicles online compare the prices of vehicles from one dealership over another. Since these consumers are shopping online for their desired vehicles best price, Inver Grove Ford Lincoln posts non-negotiable prices for vehicles.

A consumer who visits our dealership, and never price shops online, has an expectation to negotiate the price of vehicles; therefore, the vehicles stocked on our dealership lot are priced differently.

Sincerely,

Jerry Bauer
General Manager

And You Expected Anything Different?

"..I was PREVIOUSLY ripped off on it BY THEM". Dude, they ripped you off the last time and what do you do? You go back to them. Did you expect things to be any different? I've never let a dealer rip me off BUT, the rule I go by is that if they TRY and rip you off THE FIRST TIME, they'll try and rip you EVERY TIME, so I don't bother going back. You on the other hand DID get ripped off the first time, then go back for seconds.
