Direct Buy Scam artist, Can't even beat a Home Depot Quote, Misleading Cheektowaga New York
I joined Direct Buy in June 2007 after being told I could get a new kitchen for much less than Home Depot or Loew's. My husband and I spent about three hours in the showroom before I finally gave in. I was told I had to make a decision right then and there. I could not leave and think it over. It should have been a red flag, but I wanted my kitchen so badly, I couldn't see the forest for the trees.
I received a quote from Home Depot in July and spent the next 4 months working with a Kitchen Designer ($150.00) from Direct Buy. In the mean time, I also have begun demolishing my kitchen, thinking I would have my cabinets soon.
This is a copy of the letter I wrote the designer in November after several months and several quotes on cabinets and counter tops.
I am so disappointed in Direct Buy. I wasted a lot of time and money with this company. The quotes we have been working on are at least 50 % more than Home Depot's quotes. Home Depot's total quote with granite counter top and labor for cabinets and all was less than $8,000. My counter top was $2400 with labor and my cabinets were 3800 and 1500 for labor. I could have had my kitchen completed months ago.
I joined Direct Buy ($4000 fee) to get my kitchen done. Look at all the money and time wasted. You advertise savings in the thousands yet you were not even able to match the Home Depot quotes, much less beat the quote. Now my kitchen won't be ready for the holidays and I have a big mess on my hands.
I am so sorry I joined Direct Buy. Another unsatisfied customer.

My FIL said long ago "Don't trust anyone." Maybe this was the same idea as "Trust but verify." Anyway....
Many people have complained about the delivered quality of Direct Buy's merchandise. I hope you are happy with your finished kitchen. Of course, some folk have also complained here about the delivered quality of merchandise from Lowe's and Home Depot.
Either way, Direct Buy does not care because they already have your money, so your only satisfaction may come from your warning other people about your Direct Buy experiences. Assuming, of course, that those people do their research before they buy.
Your lesson applies equally well to the purchase of automobiles and houses. My wife learned the hard way, despite my prior warnings, to not trust real estate people with her information. The only "cost" was to her ego, but she was really bummed out.
