IRS Scamm Jason Lee, Allison Scammers call saying pay IRS bill now or be arrested....425-678-2187 Mountlake Terrace Washington
I received a call from number 425-678-2187 from some people sounding like they were in India. They tried to sound American. One guy named "Jason Lee" left a message saying I was going to be arrested for scamming the IRS if I don't call back. I called and the guy; I guess playing "bad cop" said I owed $4686.30 and I need to pay this IRS bill because there is an arrest warrant with my name on it. He kept repeating "Don't hang up". Said I had two options; pay the bill or dispute the bill and get arrested. Stated in the beginning of the call that the call was being recorded and that it will be forwarded to the federal courthouse as evidence that I was contacted about the bill and if I don't agree to pay I will be arrested. He said they looked at my taxes from 2014 to 2017 and found evidence that I tried to defraud the IRS and an arrest warrant would be placed in my name. He knew my entire d**n name including middle name and my address. I kept asking, "..why can't you send the paperwork where I can se where I so-called messed up and let me take it to my accountant?" He said that the accountant is a third party and the IRS don't care about third party. I filed the taxes and it was in my name including the arrest warrant. He insisted that I make a decision on what I was about to do or the recording and the arrest warrant will be forwarded to the federal courthouse.
I was alarmed because I was having a horrible day and mentally not asking a lot of questions initially. I said to just transfer me to the person to make payment arrangements. I noticed when I was on hold there was no recording playing in the background that you would here like "thank you for calling the internal revenue service. You can visit our website at www. irs.gov" ...just dead silence
Second person named "Allison" played "good cop" and reassured me that she was going to help me asking me if I had the money to pay and that there were going to run a check on my bank accounts to see if I had money in my bank accounts. I told her I had cash. SHe said not to worry and she was going to help me find a local internal revenue office. WHAT? I was thinking....isn't my local office in Albany? Why I have to pay this NOW? Why can't a payment arrangement be made?" I know people that owed 3 times this amount and not arrested. Why can't I go to the website? Why the hell would I be arrested for $4600 dollars when they can just freeze assets; etc? I asked her "Where are you?"She hesitated and said she is in Washington DC. SHe asked how much can I pay. By this point I was almost positive this was a scam. I said $500. She placed me on hold acting like she was checking to see if this was okay. When she came back on the line I asked her, "When did you send notification about this debt?" SHe gave two dates saying the postman was trying to get a signature but no one was home. That was bullshit because there was always someone home. Then I said,"...why can't you just send the documents so they can be reviewed? Why I have to make a decision right this second?" She gave some explanation that they have been trying to reach me for too long and at this point, this is what I have to do.
She transferred me to a third guy who like the first two kept saying don't hang up. So he begins his long explanation that I will be arrested if I don't do this payment and etc. He asked what zip code was I in. I told him some random zip code. He said there is a local office near you on front street. I said okay. Then he said, "Listen....you are going to get a tax voucher from this place, make the payment and kept the receipt as proof of payment and your innocence. You will hand it to the investigator I am sending to your house tomorrow and they will see you are working with us. I will stay on the line while you go to the building. We are a third party collecting on behalf of the internal revenue." I said, "that is weird? What if I was elderly and taking a bus. You would stay on the line?" He then said to stop interrupting him because I am confusing him. Then he said, "...You are going to go inside a building called.....Walgreens"
I was like "WHAT?" The IRS wants me to pay my bill at Walgreens?
I hung up and they called back 4 times saying I will be arrested. BASTARDS. I called the cops on the non-emergency number and asked them what to do because I was scared of the elderly getting scammed. They said to call the IRS to give them the info. But the investigator they have investigates people already scammed. He mentioned that on Youtube, some people prank call them back.
My accountant said that IRS doesn't usually call and the scammers usually send you to Western Union but Western Union knows the scam so now they are trying other locations to get money sent to them.
I am so worried that the elderly or someone will fall for this bullsh*.
