I had responded to an ad in Career builders for a position for entry level marketing and management with a company called Island Concept. I faxed my resume over and I received a response w/i 5 min.

The next day I went in for my initial interview. When I arrived at the office, I had realized that there were 3 companies in one small office (xtreme promotion, Island concepts, and Supreme Holdings), but there were quite a few other applicants there. I was told that it was very competitive, and only a few would get a second call.
Of course I got the second call at 6 pm that day.

When I went in for my day of observation, I was very open minded. I went out that day with 3 other people, a trainee, another girl on an interview, and the guy we were tagging along with (a deceptive little punk).
After a few hours a became very skeptical. I didn't mind door to door sales, and I am not afraid of hard work, but I am not naive enough to believe you can get your own company in 6 months either.

We received our lunch time break down, lol, and I was fed lies for 9 hrs. I even tried to explain to the Leader that it wasn't worth the money, still thinking that he was a decent person.

At the end of the day, not to my surprise I got the job. I was congratulated, because so few people made it. Little did I know their biggest expense is listing job offers on web sites week after week. This company exploit naive 20-25 years olds, who are either college grads, or waiting for that winning ticket, and it is neither. Somebody needs to stop this horrible company from continuing in their deceit. So if you see any of those 3 companies listed or their parent company, run! Don't waist your time and certainly do not believe the lies.

Hope this helps future victims,

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Dear anonymous,

I could not help but respond to a part of your post.

You wrote "I even tried to explain to the Leader that it wasn't worth the money, still thinking that he was a decent person."

I would like to respond with this quote from Steven Hassan, author the book combatting cult mind control: "By accepting the way I was deceived, I set myself up to begin deceiving others"

In other words, the leader you were dealing with is probably a great person. But through an indoctrination process that is very slow and subtle, but very powerful when accepted, the leader now firmly believes that dsmax is the best thing ever. To get to own an office, he must build a crew. To get a crew, he must take people out in the field that were lied to in order for him to sell them on a dream and become committed like he is. He firmly believes that the ends justify the means.

Pray for this person!

The business has a high turnover and more than likely your friend will end up quitting. But if he is that convinced, most likely it will be after months and weeks, maybe even years of failure. And in the mean time he will most likely drive himself into debt and ruin his credit - just to live!

I am very glad that you personaly had the wherewithal to leave and I wish you luck with your future.
