Basically more than a year ago i spent more than 500$ Canadian on a system the ismartalarm.com system. It includes three remote tags used to arm and disarm system. One of the remotes never worked, i didnt care but when i asked them to replace it weeks ago, they said no, it was too late to make a complaint, i had waited too long. They have reason for that.

I also ordered three cameras, a Cube and another small box, and then some door window sensors, and three other larger wall mounted sensors.

A couple months ago, in May, I noted that setting the camera to monitor my front yard, to motion sensor, only, that means it will detect motion and trigger a video recording of whatever triggered that motion, did not work. I played with it, thinking it was my fault, but it is now August 29 and even though I switched out the camera with another one, NONE OF THEM WORK 100 percent of the time.

As such this morning someone approached my kitchen window and plastered a letter in the window, but the camera, non functioning, did not trigger the camera and did NOT record the incident. As such my camera has worked only a few times in the past month and I have contacted them and asked them several times to remedy this.

Today, I specifically requested that they replace at least one of the camera, or give me a refund.

The company has many great reviews, but it is clear that these companies did not do any real scientific testing, or that this is a new issue. As such, the company is using those good reviews from Wired magazine etc to sell their products and not telling the users that there is an issue with one of their cameras. Worse, they refuse to refund or replace the camera.

Given the US and Canadian dollar difference I spent about if not more than 500 dollars Canadian for a system that works sometimes. I have also noted that when Arming/disarming the system when I leave and renter the apartment, the camera in the living room NO LONGER records a video clip of person entering and it used to do that all the time. It does set off the siren, and calls my home phone, and sends email, but failure to note who entered as it used to is a serious problem as we cannot tell who entered illegally. It was in order to record the intruder and have a record of it that I bought this system at all.

I am surprised that there are no other complaints of this company on ripoffreport.com. I have however, found multiple complaints about this same issue on other sites, such as YELP, and on the internet and in ismartalarm.com’s own support web site.
