After trying online dating sites, I decided to give IJL a try, thinking that a more personalized service would lead to a more successful dating experience.  I also was lead to believe that IJL's clientele is more professional and, generally, more attractive, than I have been meeting online.

I have had 35-40 dates in a six month period, and only two have I seen more than once.  I have been very disappointed with the women I have met...not with their personality, but with their appearance.  Looks are the first thing that attracts me, and I have definitely not been attracted to the women that I have met (with the exception of the aforementioned two).  On more than one occasion I have expressed my desires to the "matchmaker" with whom I communicate, but things did not improve.

I have been told by more than one woman I met that the ratio of men to women greatly favors the men, and the are lucky to get 3-4 dates a month, so either the IJL employees are not listening to me, or (and more likely the truth) they simply do not have the women clients that I desire to meet, and they are matching me with women in order to fulfill the obligation they have to those women.

Another caution...do not forget that at the end of your original agreement, you MUST cancel at least 45 days in advance of the expiration of the agreement, or they will begin charging you on a monthly basis.  Don't even try to get a refund if your cancellation is received by them less than 45 days from expiration.

They don't get it

When I agreed to give them another opportunity to make things right, I described explicitly the body type that I prefer, and the type that I don't like. When I finally got a call about another match (2-3 weeks later), the woman I met was very nice, but again, was not what I described as what I like. The fact is, I prefer a slender build, and their idea of slender is very skewed.

What someone sees in a person as a good match to someone else is subjective, and may differ significantly from the opinion of someone else.  If these matches do succeed, I believe it is only chance, and not from any skill that the matchmaker migh possess.

I have discontinued my "relationship" with IJL, and moved on.  I am disappointed, but deep down, buried beneath my hope and expectations, I harbored some skepticism that this method would work.  It did not, and I cannot recommend it to anyone except those who have rather low expectations.

After filing my report, I was contacted by IJL   To their credit, they were eager to do what they could to make my experience more agreeable and pleasant.  They have offered me a free month, and reassigned my "matching" to someone else, someone I assume has been there longer and has more experience.
