I was on craigslist one day and I ran across an ad that said rent to own only 3000 down and 875 a month for a 2 bedroom home. My fiance called him and he told us to set up a time to go look at it. Well my fiance works long hours and told him he would call when he knew when he could go. The next day we call and Cas told us to meet him at 8 pm. This house is an hour away from our current home by the way. We got there at 8 at he was not there. We called him and he turned it around on us saying we were supposed to call first and that it was too late for him to come now. Then told us to peak in the windows. We did that and we wanted it and he said that we needed the 3000 to secure it. We let him know it would take a few days to get it together but would definately have it. He said that was fine and he would hold it until Wednesday. As we were leaving I noticed a for sale sign in the yard with a real estate companys name and phone number. I called the lady and she sounded a little shady herself and said she was there in case someone wanted to buy it out right but it was Cas Rodgers property. I go home and email Cas and ask when is the latest we could move in and when he replied his email address was @itex.com. I emailed him back and asked him what was itex about bc when I did a search it was some kind of bartering service and I didn't want anything to do with that I just wanted a house. He said that he has been meaning to get his own email and that was his day job basically and that these were his personal properties. So we get the money together Tuesday but were not able to meet him that night because my fiance worked 18 hours. We called to let him know we had it and would get with him as soon as my fiance got off work Wednesday. So Wednesday my fiance calls at 2pm to see if 8pm was ok. He told us that someone else was interested and we had to give him the money now if we wanted it. So we made arrangements to do so and he said to meet him at his office at 3:30. So we were ready by 2 30 but waited until 3 30. We get to the office and the people were puzzled that I asked for Cas Rodgers and informed us he was out of the state!!! How is he supposed to meet us if he is out of state!!!??But the other rep called him and he told me that someone has already bought it at 3 pm. Okay well why didn't he let us know, why would he ask us to meet him if he were going to sell it? Then after hanging up the guy said oh we have other properties and of course they were way to expensive. I am 7 months pregnant and have been running ragged getting everything together so I am angry at this point and go home and email him. He told me that we had until noon today to get it.....errmmm then why at 2 did you tell us to meet you at 3:30? Anyway this guy is really shady. I haven't figured out the deal is. I think it was a bait and switch. Anyway I already got my deposit back for another place to get this one and am now out of a place. Please do not do business with this man. I am going to make sure he doesn't do this to someone else.

You don't tell someone that you will hold it for sure for a few days until we could get the money then tell me to come down there once I get the money and as soon I get down there you are out of town the whole time and another person said uh he just sold it five minutes ago how about another house that costs a lot more....bait and switch...that is fine he didn't want to hold it...i did not ask him to he offered...then he tells me to come down with the money and as soon as I get there after talking to him 10 minutes ago its sold??? like i said before good thing he worked out for you but he treated us like sh*t. And then to make matters worse he emailed me calling me names....very unprofessional....I mean what don't you get....he offered to keep it open...up to the day he sold it i called him telling him i had cash in hand....i was there in 10 minutes and his co worker said that he was out of town...how can i meet someone who is out of town?? i cant believe a rational person cannot see thru this. then to write me obscene emails....and that shady business office he has does not even have a sign or a listing in the phone book....I like Circuit City....some people have been screwed over by them...that doesn't mean that they are not shady just b/c I had a good experience. Come on now I know you must have a brain somewhere.

I've been dealing with Cas Rodgers for years and have purchased two homes from him and he has rented three homes to friends i've referred to him.
By your own admission you say that after you saw it you needed a few days to come up with the money. Lets see... I go to a car lot and find a car I want , tell them I'll have the money to buy it in a few days, ask them to hold it for me because I'll be back...Now i'm upset and calling the dealership scammers because they sold my car....

WHAT DOES SECURE MEAN? How can you expect someone to hold something for you on just your word?? Then to make yourself feel better you say you called someone and they sounded shady. WHO CARES HOW THEY SOUNDED...YOU HAD NO MONEY THAT DAY TO SECURE IT!!
I am aware of the Itex franchise that he also owns and I know first hand that he also does great business there. NOW...By your own admission how many days does it take you to come up with the funds needed to SECURE the property? Not one Not two but a few...Then after you say you have the funds you still need another day because YOUR Boyfriend works...who's fault is that? His too huh?

THEN you end it with the old i'm pregnant everybody feel sorry. Of course if you had money the first day you looked at it you would be happily living there instead of spreading crazy lies as you're doing here.
You honestly expect someone to believe AND WAIT on a person who says I'll have the money in a few days and i'll get back with you. Had you not gotten the money, and i'm not convienced you did, would you then have came to this site and said i'm sorry i held this person Cas Rodgers up for almost 5 days because i thought i was getting money...I'm sure everybody who reads your comments knows you're just a poor person trying to get over. And as far as the emails he sent you...do you blame him????? For the future please try to learn the definition of SECURE...

In case you don't know how to read...I had my money. I could have been the first one there if he hadn't given me a specific time. He said 3:30...he sold it at 3. I could have been there hours ago. And was supposed to meet me but come to find out he was out of the state. And I have all the emails that he wrote me calling me names and acting like a child. Anyway good for you....but has been nothing but liar and unprofessional to me.

I just wanted to say that i was shocked when i saw this. I have been renting from Cas for six years and my brother bought a house from him with a rent to own program and he has been nothing but professional and ethical. I do however know he has a very strict first come first serve policy. From reading your report it sounds like you just did not have the money and when you did get it the place was no longer available. You should really just be mad at yourself for not being first.
