ITT Technical Institute How can this really be legal?! UTMOST DISGUSTING AND PITIFUL SCANDAL! Earth City , Missouri
I would like to begin by stating that I am unfortunately and sadly attending ITT Technical Institute at the present time. Like many others, I was a person interested in continuing my education and requested an interview with Itt for further information.
As a concerned hard working independent person as myself, this school informed of the easy submission and zero down payments. They basically led me to believe that this was too good to be true, being I could sign up then, enroll the following week, and owe nothing until years after I graduate.
Well being an ambitious and naive person as I was, I jumped on the offer. Little did I know that I had just made the worst mistake of my life.
The first few quarters made me a little suspicious, however my eyes were only on a positive and driven route. When I say suspicious I mean that it was pretty obvious that anyone could attend this school; but again I thought, well not all of these students will pass.
Oh how I wish I wouldn't have been so wrong and ignorant!
My first clue should have been when my teacher just didn't show up for class one day and the dean had to come in and teach. Not only that but for the rest of the quarter and, no joke, this has happened in 3 different classes of mine throughout a one year period!
I honestly do not know where to begin when I describe this school as being a "joke".
On several occasions teachers, (yes teachers being plural), have lost my assignments, quizzes, accused me of not turning them in, or then literally just made up a grade to cover up their own mistake. No offense to fellow students currently attending there, however the majority of them are borderline illiterate. Therefore, the teachers are easily skating by quarters with noone to argue with them or question their authority.
I am fully aware of my abilities of being an intelligent intellect but unfortunately took advantage of this when I was in highschool. Therefore, because of my careless behavior I have suffered the consequences of being unable to further my education in a University due to past poor grades and bad credit judgments.
With that being said I am actually being penalized at Itt for being intelligent. Yes that is correct, I am being penalized for being intelligent.
For example, on numerous occasions my classes will have a final paper due. Well, after giving my full effort I will receive maybe a B but usually a C. This may seem fine for many, however when I see the person next to me receive an A after writing a paper that literally could have been written by a 1st grader, it is not so fine.
Finally, after seeing this way of grading repeated I went to the associate dean, Mr. Fitz. I tried to show him my paper and actually had a copy of another student's paper to compare. First of all he did not want to look at either papers.
I swear to you with all my heart, his response was, "Well some of the teachers here will grade you based on what they feel is your ability."
I mean is he really saying that because someone is unintelligent the teacher grants pity on them and therefore gives them an A, because that is what I get out of it. This way of grading might be understandable if however a college paper were compared with another college paper.
I could ramble on and on about the teaching and authority however that only concludes maybe a third of the pathetic scam this school offers.
I am studying Graphic design currently at this school and desperately want to succeed as a graphic artist. This is almost impossible because (little did I know before I enrolled), that all of the programs needed for this degree are over 10 years old at Itt Tech. If I were to apply for a position within this field I would be laughed at for not knowing the updated versions.
Not only are the programs old, constantly shut down on you while using them due to overuse and abuse, but also are rarely available. There is literally one, campus library that holds roughly 20 computers at most. Very seldom is a computer available not to mention a working one at that.
All the while as I am struggling to find an available working computer in order to finish a project (which will be worked on a 10 year old program), the school is being remodeled! Because well lets face it, isn't the saying, "what looks good on the outside looks good on the inside as well," ha ha we all know that is not true.
In short, Itt Technical Institute should be shut down! They lie, rob people of their money, the education is non existant, and all in all truly just screw over anyone and everyone.
This school is seriously ruining peoples' lives and need to be put to a stop!
I would truly appreciate any feedback or advice someone may have for me because I am seriously becoming depressed over my situation. I would like to know what my options are, if any.
I have a tough time giving up something I have already started but also do not know if continuing an "education" here at this "school" is the smart thing to do. Obviously I have nowhere to seek advice within the school and feel lost.
Furthermore, I hope that this report will be helpful for anyone interested in attending Itt Tech in Earth City.

Ive been in the woprkforce going on 40 years now. and in the last 15 years ive seen a trend in the workplace to "elevate" total morons, idiots & people who have no buisiness in the job they have. With the idea being,so the idiot has a high self esteem and doesn't feel like a dumb a*s! Therefore anyone who appears to be of higher caliber is marginalized. You will especially see this in a government type workplace. In your working career you'll have to rise above this, be vocal and stand up for yourself! Im sure big private company's employ this method as well. And this is one of the reasons why we in America are lagging behind the rest of the world.
As for advice for your situation, the other posters gave you good advice! Community college all the way. Get out of that diploma mill now! Good luck my friend.

Your best bet would be to cut your losses now. I checked and found St. Louis Community College near you. Make an appointment to see an admissions adviser there and explain what you want to do in terms of a career, and any past educational mistakes. Believe me, they won't turn you down. Community colleges have excellent programs to help you get back on your feet academically. Also, while you're enrolled, your student loans with ITT will be deferred until 6 months after you graduate. You'll find the tuition at the community college to be more affordable as well.

If you already know you are wasting your time, then it's time to bail off this sinking ship.
Talk to some community colleges, I don't see why you couldn't get in one of those to start.
I know what your talking about with the grading thing, I had a speech class one time where most students only got mediocre grades while the class stutterer got an A+!
Good Luck!
Oh yeah, an Itt education isn't worth a s***!
