Complaint Review: ITT Technical Institute

Alleging that they are the leading provider of technology based education in America, ITT preys on individuals who have little understanding of either their reputation in the business world or of what to expect in a post secondary institution.

As of this date, ITT charges more for their associate of applied sciences degree than most public 4 year colleges and universities charge for tuition and books for an entire bachelors degree.  The school fails to report to incoming students or their parents that less than 16% of the student who start at ITT graduate from ITT.  They also do not share that their financial aid representatives and marketing representative are paid based on the volume which they recruit and or package for financial aid.

The school in Swartz Creek Michigan makes a routine practice of firing instructors who refuse to dumm down the requirements of the course syllabi and the real world's understanding of the material.  As a result, few ITT graduates find positions in their field which could not have been done by high school graduates.

The staff is routinely bullied to work overtime without compensation.  The most educated and capable instructors are replaced by those willing to work for 60-70% of the pay common at community colleges.  The Swartz Creek campus also violates the rights of former employees by making extremely negative statements about them when future employers call to confirm employment.  I have tested that notion personally for numerous former ITT staff.  The fact that the American Council if Independent Colleges and School has not pulled the accreditation of this campus is because of clever concealment of the manner in which the campus illegally alters grades issued lawfully by instructors.  A simple audit of the faculty turnover at this campus will confirm the wildly inappropriate manner in which staff are treated.
