Here's an ITT Tech rip-off report from the northeast. My story happened between 2001 and 2003.

When I was looking to further my education, I did what just about everybody else does - I looked at the programs in the field I was interested in at several schools. Just about all the schools I looked at had good electronics programs, which is what I wanted, which is what I loved to do. And still do.

But to me, and apparently to thousands of education seekers across the nation, ITT Technical Institute really stood out above the others.

ITT looked to be exactly what I was looking for - electronics education, NO liberal arts courses (a big plus for a high school slacker that slep through every class and graduated with honors), and a three-night-a-week night course in the field that I was interested in.

So, like many others before me, I met with a recruiter, a very nice woman by the name of Kathy. Kathy told me the same basic line of bull the students across the country were fed, with regional amendments.

By the way, does any body actually know the name of the one student that "was hired by IBM, basically off the graduation stage, at $80,000 a year STARTING salary"? I personally don't think he exists, and if he does, he has the honor of being the only ITT student I have ever heard of that made it.

Speaking of IBM, a classmate of mine called IBM about their opinion of ITT grads. By that time, we were all so disillusioned by our experience that it really was not a surprise to find out that they have a court order against ITT to prevent them from using the IBM name to recruit students. Ever.

Motorola as well as several other large tech giants also instituted a hiring freeze on any ITT grad. Before I enrolled. And yet ITT still promises these jobs to the poor schlumps that have the misfortune of being lured into to Venus Flytrap that is ITT.

I seem to have had a slightly better experience than some, though. My textbooks were very helpful. I still use some of them today as reference material.

My instructors were competent, some even spectacular. But that was going the way of the do-do by the time I graduated. They simply did not want to pay these instructors what they were worth. We could always tell when a teacher asked for a raise (which many of them deserved, since they get paid crap here and often work another job on top of teaching). We could tell when the instructor
didn't teach a class anymore and we were being tought by some schmoe thats going to college (usuall across the highway at UB) for the same thing he's teaching us!

Their policy seemed to be "Ask for a raise,
Find another job". This from a company that netted 2.75 million in '02? After buying new campuses?

But it was Kathy that made me really laugh.
About a year after I enrolled, Kathy decided that she was interested in the field, too. And since she had pimped ITT for so long, and "it's such a great school", she went there.

Shortly before the end of her first quarter ended, I ran into her in the hall one day. She looked me square in the eyes and said: "I am so very, very sorry. I had no idea."

The next week, she was attending the University of Buffalo. She had gotten a very large dose of the crap and lies that she had fed to so many other students.

When it comes right down to it, I'm in the same boat most of the students are. Simply put, $30,000 in the hole. Thats it. And a piece of toilet paper hanging on my wall. The CET certification that I got THROUGH ITT is worth more because it's not affiliated.

ITT corporate is nothing more than a bunch of "gypsies, tramps and thieves" to quote a song. And anyone who has ever dealt with them needs no explanation as to why.

Arent companies that provide a good or service legally obligated to fulfill their obligation to the consumer if the consumer is not satisfied with the goods or services rendered? Or if the goods are defective, replace or refund the goods?

Well, I and thousands of consumers are most definately NOT satisfied the the services rendered by ITT. We got very expensive and very defective goods in the way of a crap, empty "education".

And I for one DEMAND a refund. I didn't get what I paid for and I want my money back!!!!
All I got was a 10 dollar box of crap.

For Thirty Thousand Dollars.

Yes many student are having trouble nowadays after receiving only an associates degree this is not a unique problem of ITT but at least for the Getzville, ny campus great teachers and i personally know most students that graduate can get a entry level position after they graduate.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS YES IT IS OVER PRICED BUT YOU GET OUT OF THE SCHOOL WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT AND I HAVE GRADUATED AND NOW WORK IN THE FIELD I WENT TO SCHOOL FOR SO BESIDES PAYING TOO MUCH IT IS WORTH IT.  AS FAR AS THE CREDITS TRANSFERRING  GOES I HAVE ALWAYS SEEN THE WARNING THAT THEY MAY NOT TRANSFER AND I WENT BACK IN 2003.  IT IS ONLY A RIPOFF FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SKATE THROUGH THE SCHOOL AND GET D'S

rongr100,

I am a graduated student of ITT Tech, Greenfield. I worked very hard from 2007 to 2011, achieving a 3.87 GPA and graduating with Highest Honours. Your comments that "you get out of the school what you put into it", and "it is a ripoff for people who want to skate through the school and get D's" are not accurate to everybody that has gone to ITT Tech. I am unable to get a job in the industry that I went to ITT for despite the credentials that I have, because they are worthless. I was one of the best students in my class, and despite the high marks and honours, what I have is nowhere near good enough to get an entry level position. I've been looking since I graduated, and the best thing that ITT's career services department has been able to refer is a salesman position to set up and tear down cardboard displays. This isn't what I went to school for.

Everything you said in your report sounds very similar to mind experience with ITT.

I filed a report on ITT Tech also. I attended the school in Troy, Michigan. I was given the speech about how they place so many grads in high paying job and not one of my classmates after graduating could find one of those jobs.

When I attended ITT they said they were an accredited school. Everyone knows that an accredited school is supposed to transfer credits to other colleges. I was unable to transfer any credits whatsoever.

Now their commercials say "limited transferability of credits" even though I graduated with honors, which I have found out it means nothing.

I had a couple instructors who knew how to teach and deserved good pay. Most of my other instructors didn't know &*&* about what they were supposed to be teaching and usually sat behind their desk.

All I have to say is I can't believe all the garbage and shpeil that this so called school pulls off and to get more students in.

Since you all signed a contract then I would call an attorney up immediately and tell them breach of contract. Your not getting the services you all paid for at all.

I thank some people that I talked to and they told me its not worth it at all. I would also do some research and while your at the school ask to speak to students first hand experience before signing the contract.

I live near a campus and it makes me sick to hear all the bull crap with lies and stuff.

I hear people from NY state are coming down and what a waste of time. These schools have to be shut down simple as that. Thats why I'm in my own business.

I will assure that if something isn't done I will embarass this school on nationwide tv.
