Complaint Review: ITT Technical Institute

ITT Technical Institute Waste of Money, and Time. Worst Educational Decision A Person Could Make. Norwood, Ohio

I'd been seeing ITT commercials for years and procrastinated attending the school because I had been a procrastinator. As a young adult with aspirations of being a successful businessman seeing the ITT commercials about "success" stories of former students motivated me to join. In fact, the commercials were the reason I joined at all.

I wish I had done research on this school, or had the right guidance. I was rushing to get settled in somewhere and that was the problem. The first quarter was fine, I felt the school was very technical, hands-on, and the instructors were very educated even though I only had 3 for that quarter. I majored in Business Administration and my associates was my goal.

After the first quarter and I got more in dept into my core classes I experienced the true professionalism of this so called college. The school instructors they had were all short notice substitutes whom never even taught a class before yet they had bachelors, and master degrees but they were very unprepared because they had to go off of the original instructors assignments, and study guides.

There were several classes that I KNOW I'd failed but I was passed anyway simply because the instructors did not know what they were doing. The financial staff crew also never kept students updated on ways to save money, unpaid balances on loans. If you had an unpaid balance you would not find out until your first day of class in a new semester when they tell you, you cannot receive your books or attend class because you owe them money. REALLY?

After graduating, and getting my photos taken, I was told soon after I would not receive my degree, pictures, or transcripts because I had an unpaid balance of $200 that needed to be paid in cash before I could receive anything from the school. But I was told that I could still come to the graduation ceremony? What were they going to hand me a blank piece of paper with a bow tie on it to show everyone that I had graduated? Or maybe I would present this paper to employers? I refused to attend, and I also wrote several letters to the dean yet received no response back.

Even without the actual degree in hand I still have not been able to find work related to my major field of study. Being a graduate from ITT Technical Institute means nothing in the business world. I still work basic jobs, and the ITT on my resume gets brushed aside quite easily. After doing some research, going to the ITT website, I learned that this is not even a real school/college it's just a place to get in debt at.

There is no contact information for any school related staff on the website, no fax numbers, no email addresses, nothing at all beside a brochure to gain more information about the school. I truly believe the best thing about my experience about this school was all the fantastic one night stands I had with the female students. IF you're a sexually active guy GO TO ITT TECHNICAL INSTITUTE NORWOOD!! Don't pay though just walk around the school like you're a student and the girls will do the rest. Other than that screw this place, and if you're a ITT STAFF MEMBER READING THIS! SCREW YOU TOO!!

You have a worthless degree from ITT Tech.  Many if not most employers prereject applicants from ALL for profit trade schools sucha as ITT Tech, Everest College, University of Phoenix, Heald College, etc.

You are a victim "of get them student loan dollars" with admission representatives under constant to meet their quota to avoid being laid off due to the lack of production.

ITT Tech is no longer eligible for California Financial Aid Grants as it is "SB 70 impacted" due to a high Federal Student Loan default rate.

If you have ANY inkling about attending a for-profit school just call around to the major employers and talk with their HR departments. Ask them how much value they put on a for-profit 'degree'. You'll get a rude awakening.

Take the smart route, attend a local community college and get a recognized degree for a fraction of the cost.
