Via Airnb.com, found a 3-bedroom, 2 bath apartment to rent for 6 nights in NY. Mariko suggested that we not use the site and proceed off-site. We agreed on $360 per night plus $75 cleaning fee. $100 deposit paid via Paypal to Enrique Wallace payments@ewrealestate.org. The morning we were to leave home, she informed me that we could only have the apartment for 3 nights and she would find us a hotel room for $160 /night.
Since I had no option, I agree but asked for the hotel name and found that the hotel rate was only $130 /night. Still wanted the apartment. After we arrived and shouted, she agreed to $380 /night for the entire 6 nights. But during our time, she kept calling and tried to get us to move to a smaller place. In the end we did not move and after 6 weeks and over 30 emails, I even got the deposit back. The family that was double booked for the apartment was not so fortunate, they paid $300 / night for a hotel for the nights we did not vacate.
