I had the most horrible time dealing with J.B.A. Chevrolet/Mitsubishi in Glen Burnie, Maryland which is located right off of Route 2 (Ritchie Highway), and it seems as though the trouble is not over yet.

I traded in my 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 for a new, 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. When I first entered the store, on a Friday evening around 8:15pm, I was not greeted at all. I had to find someone wandering around to help me out, and they treated me as if I was a little kid buying my first car. I was not offered a test drive, or an overall view of the car. My warranty was not explained to me, and I felt very rushed. After the sales representative tried to tell me that I was going to trade in my Trans Am and still OWE $2,500 on this Cobalt, I nearly lost it. A Trans Am, for a Cobalt? Where does this even out? It doesn't. I should've walked with a Cobalt and $3,000 in my pocket(Trans Am was paid off).

I asked about the SS Cobalt, and was told it wouldn't arrive until late August (it was May 3rd when I bought the Cobalt), and I saw the new SS Cobalt's on the lot, a week and a half later. Lie number one.

I went back to J.B.A. on Monday, May 6th, at 11am and tried to get back my car. There is a Maryland Law stating that you have a 3 day return period when you purchase a car, and I was denied that. I called my insurance company, and they spoke with the Manager, a man by the name of Jim. I was told that there was no such law by Jim, when in fact, there is. I asked for a written denial of the return of the Cobalt, and was refused that. (I wonder why!) I bought the Cobalt for an even trade, for $17,800, when Cobalt's are only $12,500-$13,000. I was told $17,800 (even trade... Trans Am for a Cobalt) was the cheapest he would go.

I asked for the whereabouts of my Trans Am, and was told it was sent to a "wholesaler", even though it was at the back of the lot, in plain view. I asked if I could even BUY IT BACK, and I was told "No." Lie number two.

As for performance, the Cobalt already needs to go in for service. It is the WORST vehicle I have EVER purchased. There is an electrical problem, and has been since I bought it. The car backfires, and randomly pops out of gear when it feels like it. So, on a side note, anyone thinking about purchasing a Cobalt, DO NOT DO IT. It will be the worst mistake you have ever made.

I do NOT recommend J.B.A. Chevrolet/Mitsubishi to ANYONE.

Extreme ripoff!

You are under NO obligation to any car dealer. You indicated from the first seconds you walked thru the doors of the place you were treated poorly...yet you stayed around to receive more!
You also stated they didn't explain the warranty to you. Did YOU read it? Did YOU understand it?

The best weapon we have against either those who came out of the nearest slime pit to sell cars or those who haven't a clue about customer service is OUR FEET! When you get treated like garbage, get up and walk out!

The slime of the car business don't want savvy customers who know what they're doing. They want the doormat, the chump, the car crazy, the sucker. If they can scam that person once, that's all they want because they know the world is full of people who haven't a clue of how to avoid getting conned when buying a car.

Next time, don't REWARD them for treating you like garbage. Walk out, take your business elsewhere.
