On  12/2/2013 I purchased a coffeemaker and a griddle from JC Penney online. These items were advertised to have rebates. I ordered the two items, and printed out my rebate forms.

When the items arrived, I gathered the required info, put all together and mailed to the address provided.

On 12/20/2013 I received an email providing a tracking number.

When I hadn't gotten my rebate on  1/16/14, I used the tracking number. This number only referenced the griddle and not the coffeemaker. It said my request for rebate was not eligble due to an inactive date. How can that be? I checked the dates when I purchased, and sent in well before the deadline. Both rebates were sent in the same envelope. They got both! They were on the same invoice, although I made a copy for each as requested.

I have my copies of the rebates, and intend to fight this. However, I'm not sure how to do it. I can email them and get a vague response. Tried the live chat, no one ever responded. I will be hunting a phone number for this rebate issue. The rebates are handled through some fulfillment company in El Paso, so this is going to be a lot of work. They probably do this so that no one will put the effort forth to fight it.

I will not buy from JC Penney again. I would not have purchased these items had the rebate not been offered. I did a lot of copying and mailing to get my rebate. I fulfilled my end, they should have to fulfill theirs.

Next Christmas, buyers beware! You may not get your rebates. They hope you will forget to send them in, and if you do, they will find some reason not to fill the rebate.

Gee, I wonder why they are going out of business? Service like this sure isn't customer friendly.
