Complaint Review: J. Howen Inc.

House is being renovated and therefore vacant. Left key for entry and before even opening the door I was called and asked three times who would pay. By the way, they knew me, I had another door repaired a few weeks earlier
and they acted like I was trying to scam them...I asked how much, estimate they responded "I dunno, we'll see" Then told it would take less than 30 minutes to fix, 20 minutes later called and told me to send my spouse because I was out of town so he could get paid. $210 for a door torque adjustment. They claimed they replaced an electronic part to
justify the cost ($16 PART). Very unprofessional, It's a shame companies like this have to prey on people in times like this. Almost forgot, he said "we reprogrammed your keypad for free"!! Ha ha ha, Not free if they charged me $210! What a joke!

I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PAID MORE THAN $50-$75 FOR 15 MINUTE WORK AND IF THEY DID REALLY REPLACED THE RPM MODULE ($16 PART)

I ASKED TWICE FOR AN ESTIMATE, THEY REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO ME. NOT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE. THE FIRST REPAIR THEY DID ON MY RESIDENCE I WAS GIVEN AN ORAL ESTIMATE ON THE PHONE WHICH I ACCEPTED AND PAID WHEN THE WORK WAS COMPLETED. THIS TIME AROUND THEY SAW AN OPPORTUNITY TO RIP SOMEONE OFF BECAUSE I WAS OUT
OF TOWN AND MY WIFE HAD TO HANDLE PAYING THEM AND THEY TOOK IT. IF THEY WOULD HAVE TOLD ME IT WOULD HAVE COST $210 WHEN I ASKED TWICE, I WOULD HAVE DECLINED TO HAVE IT SERVICED.THEY DID NOT GIVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY.

THEY ADVERTISE "FREE ESTIMATE" THEY ARE MISLEADING POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. BAIT AND SWITCH.
