Message: Hello: J.R Cahoon & Mike Grey (ebay member samhain77) is an ex friend of mine that is using my ebay I.D to buy bras, gay bumpers stickers and
various other things; in an effort to piss me off.

I have not made a purchase in over 3 months on Ebay. The last one I made was on J.Rs computer. He has watched me type my I.D and password many times at his house. We had a falling out, and this is his way of revenge. I wish to close my account, and have the charges from the prank
orders be sent to J.R Once again; his name is J.R
Cahoon - 66 Lyman Street, Brockport NY 14420.

This is a joke from an ex friend of mine...I want it canceled. Or I'm calling the cops.

Thank you:
Pete Helfrich (the real Pete Helfrich).

The reason eBay takes forever: Look in the mirror!

#4Consumer Suggestion

Fri, June 11, 2004

After reading this rerport, it is plain to see the problem with ebay's lack of speed in solving fraudulent claims-people like you Mr. Helfrich! Let me tell you about a real case of ebay fraud:

Over a year ago I started an ebay store selling dvd's after I was forced to sell my shop because insurance was getting too high (My shop was in a high crime area in Philadelphia). All went well for the first six months and then when I went to make a deposit in my business account, I noticed $4000.00 missing. I emmediately called the bank and they told me their records showed that I took it out, which I clearly had not. They then asked me if anyone else had the account # (wife, business partner, etc). The answer again was clearly a no since I am single and am in this business by myself. They said they would investigate...Two weeks later I went to make a withdrawl and the remaining portion of my account was gone-all $14,000.00! That same night I got a call from officials at ebay Safe Harbor asking if there were any unusual changes in my accounts. To make a long story short, they informed me that a person or group of persons have hacked through personal accounts of over 90 ebay store owners and drained them clean of a combined figure of $787,000.00!

This was over 6 months ago. Still I have not been reimbursed (as have not the other 90 or so victims). I have kept in constant contact with ebay officials, bank officials and federal authorities over this matter and they have all told me the same thing- "i'm sorry Mr. Wallace, but do to the over abundance of petty crimes being reported, our resources are spread very thin, which takes us awy from investigating REAL crimes."

When I read your initial report and then your rebuttal, I didn't know whether to laugh or feel like choking you! Threatenning to sue ebay over something so petty? You're the idiot who let your friends see your password! You lost nothing by this-there was no obligation for you to pay for those things; all you would have had to do is contact the sellars, tell them what happened, and change your password. If you did pay for those things, you are a complete moron!

It's people like you, Mr. Helfrich that make the investigation into real ebay fraud a painfully slow process. Open a new account, drop your immiture friends, and get a real problem to deal with!

After 25 + attempts to get Ebay(through emails, live chat, etc.)to help me, I have a response from them. Thier customer service is non-existent. They try every way to blame you for your account info being stole. I had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to even listen to me.

Here is their response:

EBAY and The The Authorities are investigating the fraud

*UPDATE* Ebay has at last gotten off of their duffs, and after a month and a half of emailing them, they are looking into the matter.

I filled out a complaint form with an Ebay afiliated Fedral Agency. It may take a month or so for them to get around to reading my case; I have all the facts and proof I need to show what they did.

WhenI hear more news on the matter, I will UPDATE this report.

Respond to this Report!
