Two months ago I contacted a debt consolidation agency to assist in paying off my credit card balances. All was well with this, but one of the card-company's wrote-off the debt to an agency called "Collect America". A week ago, my Wife was harassed at her job by a firm called "Cambece Law Office". They also called my home - no messages were left. Also odd was the caller I.D. description - "Cambese Law" and the phone # was not searchable on-line.

They finally provided a number for me to call on my answering machine. I called this law office yesterday and I was told that they are representing a client called "Arrow Financial Services" and that this client had made this "investment" and wanted their money right away and would not negotiate for payments. I was also told that if full payment was not received by Nov. 1, that this matter would be handed over to the State of WI. I told them that I had a letter from them, but misplaced it(I'm not making that up), so I need another statement from them. They declined to send another letter.

I talked to the consolidation agency again - They told me to call the credit card company and find out to which company the debt was transferred. I did this and was directed to "Collect America". I called "Collect America" and got a recorded message stating that the debt was transferred to "Cambece Law Office"!

I was also looking for a payment mailing address(The address filed with this report was found on Ripoffreport.com), so I contacted the Law firm again last night and left a message. They called me this morning (I did not pick up the phone - only listened to the message) and said that Cambece Law does not deal with consolidation agencies (still no mailing address for payment).

So, that's the situation. These Law people are giving me a headache. Does anyone have any advice on dealing with these people and/or know of any good attorneys that can defend us against these people?

I am not talking to these people any more on the phone, based on what I've read here already.

You are now in..... The Cambece-Twilight Zone.
