Complaint Review: Jackie Johnson - Warranty Activation

Jackie Johnson At Warranty Activation Got automated message; entered 1 to get rep; Johnson, "supervisor" would not tell me how she got my number as it's on federal do not call registry. Called company & spoke to Jacob, who denied knowing any Jackie Johnson and said his company does not telemarket, but there is another complaint on your site that is very similar to mine. As per above, I received an automated call and opted to speak to a customer rep to find out how they got my number. I spoke to Jackie Johnson, who said company name was Warranty Activation, but that she was just making calls and not "at the company." I asked to speak to her supervisor; she told me she was the supervisor. Began ducking any responsibility for calling me; would not say where she got my number. I told her not to call me again, that I am on the Federal Do Not Call List. She said she was busy and had to take care of other customers, for me to decide whether I wanted a warranty or not! Unbelievable.

I googled Warranty Activation and got the Ripoff Report's latest complaints on this company. Got their number and address and called. Spoke to "Jacob" who professed to be the owner of the company and insisted that they do not do any telemarketing. He confirmed the St. Louis address as well as Mepco's being the finance company affiliated with Warranty Activation. He gave me the Federal Do Not Call number and suggested I call it (I've been on it for several years), but continued to insist they do not telemarket, nor does he have anyone by the name of Jackie Johnson working for Warranty Activation.

Creepy. One wonders how they got my number. Did not give any pertinent info out, but thought I would add this to the man from Washington who had a similar experience.

thinking they will stay out of trouble while harvesting your number FROM the do not call registry. They could also be scammers trying to get fresh VINs for a chop shop somehwere.
