Complaint Review: James Albers - Prey-9 German Shepherds

What a Rip Off! Texas is also represented in the big Rip Off by James Albers. In February 2003 after losing our two long time pets including a beautiful German Shepherd, we found an ad in our local paper for an AKC female V/rated Schutzhund puppy. We went to look and her and fell in love. Since she was being sold locally we were only out $800 in the beginning.

When she started hopping around, we took her to our vet and after x-rays found out she had a spinal problem. Then the expenses began. We went to specialists and spent nearly $4,000 since she was diagnosed with Kyposis. (Her name is Hana and she supposedly was the puppy from Hanno's litter. He immediately sold Hanno to a lady in Co. for a great price.)

After many attempts to contact James about papers which we never received and describing her medical problems, he agreed to replace her if we had her spayed. We spent more money and did everything he asked and still nothing.

Next, I contacted the small claims court in Garden City KS and made two trips from Ft. Worth,Texas to pursue the case. James appeared at the first trial and seemed befuddled. At the next court hearing his wife, Chris, appeared. After abusive comments to both the judge and myself, the judge ruled in my favor and said they must replace the dog and pay expense for shipment. She received a lecture from the judge on her behavior. (She is supposedly a teacher in Garden City.}

We kept in touch when he moved and he kept promising one litter after another. Now we know we will never receive that puppy since he is a professional rip off artist. Our advice is to be sure he doesn't get another e-mail address (Bloodhounds ???)to con other innocent people out of their money.
